I've been using Eagle Claw hooks for nearly 30 now. They're my "go to" hooks, namely because I can go anywhere and they'll have some useful variety of it. Until this year, I never had any sort of mechanical failures due to the hooks themselves. 4 different times this year I had the hook actually snap in 2 different places in 2 different instances. Twice I had the hook actually break at the shank itself, right before the base of the bend. Twice I had the hook break between the bend and the barb itself. I don't usually fish for enormous fish. We're talking trout less than 3 lbs on average. I can't recall having hook failures in the recent past. I'll chalk this up to potential lot issues or quality control, but if this continues to happen I'll have to switch to another brand. One of the reasons I've been faithful to Eagle Claw all these years is the performance to price ratio. But, if spending more will cause me to have to failures, then so be it. I also continue to use Eagle Claw because they still mass produce #12 hooks that are easy to get a hold of. Even smaller hooks are nearly impossible to find. Anyway, I'd say use them due to their relative quality and the fact that nearly any retailer with a decent outdoor section will carry them.

These hooks are sharp, I have them in all different sizes. Unfortunately the pack(Size 2) I received had about 8 hooks that were stuck to each other. I don't know how to separate them without removing the barb. Another one had a bent tip. Can't complain on price but disappointed that some of them are unusable.

Shame on you eagle claw,putting 48 hooks in the package when there suppose to be 50. i have been using your hooks for 50 years. You should be ashamed.From now on I will buy Japanese maybe they can count. George Thomas
