Fantastic, could not have asked for a better kit
I have been eyeballing this company and their products since I got a switch during the pandemic. It came with two Joy-Cons that were nigh unusable because their drift was so incredibly bad that playing with them was impossible. This purchase was part of a 100% repair on said Joy-Cons, with a button and shell swap included. They're like new, they feel like new, and the shells are gorgeous. They're slightly matte, incredibly soft, and fit like a glove. I could not be happier to have Joy cons that not only work, but fit the aesthetic of my turn-of-the-century furniture. The tools they include are much better quality than the ones I received with the actual joycon replacement parts. It was worth the wait. This purchase was 3 years in the making, and I don't regret a second after seeing how pretty these things are.

A year in and still soft coating!
The wood grain looks so classy, and the coating is still really soft. Countless hours of adult use and I have zero spots with worn areas. They also come with nice edges. Not one edge felt sharp. Pair them with gold buttons and switch out the control sticks with black ones and it’s super classy. Installing was easy once you understand a few YouTube videos( there are plenty). But be patient, patience is key when disassembling and reassembling.

Cutouts Are Too Big!
EDIT: ExtremeRate contacted me and offered a full refund without having to send the shells back. I was surprised with the speed and generosity of their reply after I posted this review. I might try another set of shells in the future, and hopefully I just got part of a bad batch on this order. I waited and watched these shells for a couple months. When they went on sale for Prime Day, I jumped at the chance and bought them. Unfortunately, that’s where the excitement ended. I watched eBay to find a set of joycons to shell swap- I wanted to do this as a cool project where I swap shells, replace the locks with metal latches, and replace the joysticks with Hall effect sticks. The texture of the shells was a silky smooth, the packaging looked clean and professional, not cheap. Unfortunately, the shells themselves couldn’t live up to the hype. The points inside that were made to receive the screws were tight and unwilling (unable?) to accept the screws properly. I had to give a lot of force to try to get the screws to take and hold and they never seemed to want to settle in right. I ignored it. The biggest “no” about this was the size of the cutout for the minus button (left joycon). I put all the pieces in, tightened everything up, and the button settled into the joycon and could not be pressed, nor would it pop back up! I took it apart and reset the button, then tried again- same thing, the button disappeared flush with the shell and was unable to be pushed! I put my OG joycons back together, and these shells will be returned, along with the latches and joysticks (the biggest tragedy was not being able to use the joysticks. I’m still salty about it two weeks later).

Beautiful and high quality
First and foremost the shells were really high quality. Once I finished the build it felt store-bought overall took me about 40 minutes to switch both. I've been a tech for a few years now so this was a breeze and I used my own tools. Even though tools were provided you will still need tweezers, a plastic wedge tool, and a spudger. You have to be the most careful removing the flex cables as they are paper-thin. Look at the videos on how to take this apart if you've never worked on anything with flex cables. Make sure to disconnect the battery and take the clips off the cables before removing them. Excessive force will cause things to break. Things aren't supposed to be taken off by force, especially with newer electronics. Pros: *Great quality shells: soft strong, and elegant * Comes with tools and extra screws * Works as intended Cons: * Buttons are low quality but you can use the original ones * If you don't know what you're doing or don't watch the tutorial you'll break something

Good quality, but some flaws
Installation took me about 3 hours, but that was because I took it apart after finishing to adjust the joycon position after I screwed everything in place. Screws were a little hard to get in place without a magnetized screwdriver, but I managed to get it done. Really appreciate the spare screws for sure though! The feeling of the shell is really nice, but after sliding them on the switch screen a lot, some of the outer layer is coming off. Also make sure you have a good case that doesn’t put pressure on the protruding area behind the triggers, because that will also scratch the outer layer. I didn’t change out the buttons and kept the ones for the original switch, since the ones included seem a bit flimsy, but otherwise it’s a really good purchase if you’re going for just the shell. Ordered another one for my spare, and will be installing as soon as I have time!

Extremely satisfying quality-of-life improvement to a Joy-con needing repair!
If you find yourself needing to replace the thumb sticks to correct the "stick drift" issue, you might as well treat yourself to a nice shell replacement, because you're going to have to dive neck-deep into the disassembly anyways. I'm not sure how to describe how comfortable these Joy-con shells feel, but if you have ever felt something that you considered to be "fuzzy and plastic" at the same time, this is that material. It feels amazing, and the wood-grain variety looks stellar. The "fuzzy plastic" offers added grip and will bring new life into your old, worn pair of Joy-cons. I recommend it! +1 for all the required (and excess) screws, springs, and plastic. The kit has everything you need to do the swap, although I already had the tools for the job. Just be sure to save your plus, minus, and home, and screen capture buttons because those aren't included. It's no big deal, you may even decide to keep some of your original buttons anyways... The ABXY buttons included have the letters embossed and the entire button is black, so I chose to use those as it closer matches the all-black buttons on the left Joy-con. Will you guys ever make a D-Pad version for the left Joy-con? If so, I'm interested!

This is not an easy add-on
Bought this for my 14 year old for his switch controller. He is very adept at projects like this, which are his THING. However this one is taking him over an hour. Screws are teeny tiny: he is using tweezers. And the connections need to be unwired from the old one and rewired to the new one. He says he has a 95% chance of putting it back together successfully. HE is very happy. So far. I’m skeptical! My 2-cents: Potentially Ok if you’re expecting a major (but tiny) project. Otherwise you may not be happy. Update: he put it back together successfully, it took 1.5 hours of concentrated work, and he’s happy.

Pristine
I expected cheap wood grain shells to make my switch look cooler than the basic white shells. What I did not expect was a smooth, quality feel to the shells, that overall make my switch look 10 times cooler, and 10 times more “executive” looking. I highly recommend these to any person that wants to transform their switch into a pristine piece of hardware. The shells greatly complement Nintendo’a quality. The matte finish even hid a bad scratch I put on the back of them trying to tighten a screw. It was my fault, the scratch was not there when it arrived. My only complaint is the included screw driver. The top palm spinning cap was metal rubbing on metal and made the screwdriver very uncomfortable to use. But that’s just a petty complaint, since I used my own for the rest of the shell transfer.
