Review: Excellent text for Scottish HNC Electrical - When I reviewed this book, I was pleasantly surprised by the content and way it was written. The explanations are succinct and clear with supporting visuals. I’d say that from a college course perspective in Scotland, I’d level this text at Level 6 and HNC in Electrical Engineering. The only practical comment would be that in future editions, more treatment of complex numbers and examples of use as applied to electrical calculations. This apart, I found reading the text very enjoyable. Review: Fairly advanced book - Advanced terminology, Incase you are unfamiliar it uses American terms instead of European, not for beginners

Don't buy if you are new to engineering.
A lot of useful information which is great, but I would not recommend this book if you are new to engineering or have basic maths knowledge . I would say a lot of the stuff or if not all of it is HND level or above so this is not for beginners. Would be suitable for people starting university.

Written in a language that's easier to understand

Lots of math and info, but not well explained. If you are looking for a basics guide or a troubleshooting guide this is not it. Is it good reference, but that's it.

I bought this book to learn about electricity, how it functions, what it does, and a bunch of things about using electricity. Nope, each chapter is chopped down into sections, which have poor explanations. It was as if they were expecting you to know the formulas and how to use the equations. This is definitely not for people who want to learn, more for people who already have a higher basic knowledge and to expand on it even more.

Language used is not easily understood. some formulars are just used without atleast explain where it was taken from. it is not well organised - some qns tests for something that the book teaches in a later chapter.
