FleaAway Spot On Solution for Cats, 50 mg

Visible fleas on cat for the first time in years, loads of them, our neighbours cat who likes to break our locked cat flap to get in and spray in our house probably has something to do with this. Was able to get this next day on prime so ordered it not expecting much for the price but couldnt get to pet shop for few days so would have to do til them. As directed i put in on skin between shoulder blades. Theres not much in the tube, usually use advantage and that has quite a lot inside so was little worried. Cat did not like me pestering him so he went off out the cat flap. He returned 2 hours later and no visible fleas and managed to do a sneaky flea comb later that evening and nothing on that. Fingers crossed.

Cheapest flea treatment around, it is ok but since defleaing our cats every month they have got immune to it, so changed product.

I have been using this on my cat for about three years now and it is very effective. It is important to realise though that it MUST be used correctly in order to be effective. It must be applied the the skin between the shoulder blades. The hair must be properly parted to expose this skin and if the formula ends up on the hair rather than the skin it will be less effective. My cat does not like the smell and regularly runs off when I am about to medicate her - I am sure many other cats are similar. I have to get her into a very relaxed mood with lots of attention before I can get the formula into the right place and even then I have to have the tube already prepared and close to hand in my pocket so that as I part the hair on her shoulders with one hand as I feign stroking her, I can get the tube up quickly with the other hand to apply the formula to the skin. The moment the formula touches her skin she is off, so it has to be applied quickly and accurately. I believe it goes between the shoulder blades as this is one of the few places the cat finds more difficult to clean and if the formula ends up on top of the hair, the cat will quickly try to clean it off to rid itself of the smell, something she cannot do if it is already on the skin and covered by the hair.

Sorry only 3 stars, easy to use and my cats didn't run away after applying it. However after a month now there doesn't seem to be much protection. Sorry I don't think I will buy again.

Works well

I bought this because my cats had all picked up fleas this summer. After reading the directions I applied the treatment and even though it's now been a couple of days I'm still seeing fleas every time I comb the cats. I have sprayed my home top to bottom with a household flea spray, so they shouldn't be picking up any fleas or eggs from the environment. It's upsetting to see pets continuing to suffer despite supposedly being treated, and the directions give no instruction of what to do if the product doesn't work. You're supposed to wait four weeks between applications - so is it safe to try to use another brand earlier than that, or am I supposed to let my cats continue to suffer in the mean time? I have spoken to a friend who works as an assistant vet, and apparently several common brands of spot on treatments, including Frontline and Advantage, as well as presumably this one, are less and less effective as fleas become resistant to the chemicals in them. I would have expected better from an RSPCA-approved product, but there we go. I will have to try something else, and I certainly won't be getting this brand again.

Brilliant, my cats have trouble with flea treatment, they irritate their skin,but this was absolutely fine and they stopped scratching after two days
