Mysteries grow around them Stunning gardens provide the backdrop for this hit British mystery series starring Felicity Kendal (Good Neighbors, The Camomile Lawn) as Rosemary Boxer and Pam Ferris (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Matilda) as Laura Thyme, professional gardeners and amateur sleuths. From their former careers as a university plant biologist and a police officer, Rosemary and Laura bring unique investigative talents to their horticultural and human mysteries. Locations featured in the series include manor houses in the English countryside; London’s Kew Gardens and Regent’s Park; the French Riviera; Italy’s Ligurian coast; a Surrey vineyard; and the hills of Málaga, Spain. Guest stars include Anthony Andrews, Oliver Ford Davies, Phyllida Law, Juilan Wadham, Margaret Tyzack, and Michael Maloney. Great fun for mystery fans and green thumbs alike! As seen on public television. Review: Fun series! - I love this series! Beautiful flowers, gorgeous buildings, and good, clean murders! Review: Awesome small series! And who doesn't love Felicity Kendal! - Perfect new condition video with 7 DVD's for series 1, 2 and 3. Rosemary (Felicity Kendal) and Thyme (Pam Feris) hook up after they both have man trouble and become professional landscapers. Have to admit I would think twice having them in my garden because everywhere they go someone gets crowned, zoinked, sent to the underworld, aka they get killed. Murder just seems to follow these intrepid gardeners around and of course they solve the mysteries as the police get baffled. Great casting, great screenplays, interesting plots with numerous twists and turns while keeping the overall story line easy to follow. Super insight into English country life and they also journey to Spain for landscape jobs where murder just follows them. An excellent addition to any collection and just dashed good entertainment. An excellent follow up to The Good Life where Felicity just made the show a success. Look for that signature-look from Felicity being her lower lip tuck when she wants to look apologetic and a 'I told you so' at the same time. Only one thing wrong. Only 3 seasons. We need another 3 seasons! Keep them coming.

Rosemary & Thyme: Complete Collection
I first saw a few episodes of this series on PBS a couple of years ago, and enjoyed them, but when I checked to see if it was available on DVD I felt the price was more than I wanted to pay. So.....I rented all 3 seasons and totally enjoyed them. And I was pleasantly surprised recently when I found Amazon had the complete Collection at what I felt was a reasonable price. Finances out of the way, this series is delightful!!! Yes, every episode has a murder, and some are a bit gory, but the story lines are always interesting, and don't depend on the gory details (if they exist) to hold your attention. These 2 women are hired each week to solve someone's gardening problems, and the locations alone make watching the worthwhile. Nature abounds in all it's glory as the back drop for every story. Most of them take place in the UK, but they travel a bit in a couple episodes. There are also interesting tidbits for anyone who loves digging in the dirt and planting gardens, between Rosemary's background in Horticulture and Laura (Thyme)'s love of gardening and her down-to-earth 'old housewives tales'. And - a gold star for the writers of the show - These gals are organic - no chemicals and pesticides - except as the 'villans' in the 'plot', pardon the pun. If you haven't 'met' these lovely women and their wit and humor, check them out. I've enjoyed watching the series again, now that I bought the set, and am sure I'll watch it many more times.

Great series!
I loved this series! Too bad it is so little known in the U.S. The characters are likeable, and for the most part relate-able. I found myself cheering at times when they got the "badies". The places they go to garden are a treat to view! I loved seeing so many English gardens and some estates. There were also about 4 episodes filmed in other countries, 2 Spain, 1 Italy and 1 France, if they were in the locations they talked about on the show. (I was unable to find a filming locations page for these shows.) If you want totally realistic, maybe think twice. While the writing was good, sometimes I was miles ahead figuring out who did it, sometimes their actions were not what you even think the character would do, and there were by far way to many murders in each episode to be realistic. That being said, the stories overall made sense, were quite varied and I enjoyed the writing. Simon Langton, the director of the 1995 Pride and Prejudice also directed many of these episodes. You'll also notice at least 4 people who played in '95 P&P appear in various episodes here. Also 1 person who was in the '80 P&P that I noticed. I highly recommend this if you enjoy British filming, scenery, light mysteries and likeable characters.

Better than expected😊
This series is entertaining and rather unique. The lead actresses are both talented and perfect in their roles. Love their English accents! Stories are original with just enough characters , twists and turns...to keep things interesting and moving along at a good pace. No gory scenes or excessive violence, big pluses imo. The garden settings in this series are truly AMAZING! How I would love to live in that kind of environment, surrounded by so much beauty. Worth watching just to see all this artistry and color!🌹🌺🌻🌼🌷 I'm taking off one star as the "NEW" set I received was not actually new. Be careful of the seller you choose, this has happened to me twice recently. But the series itself is first rate!

Rosemary and Thyme is a collection of lighthearted goings on of two gardeners who play off each other's gardening knowledge, one of whom was a plant biologist at a university -- the other had been a police officer, and is always ready to offer any of their clients or, in fact, anyone they come across, if they appear to being cheated. These two gardeners are always happy, even when they have just run into a problem or two. Whether you have a garden or a window box, you are bound to enjoy watching them at work. The different countries where they have been requested to bring their gardening abilities also adds to the enjoyment of the various backgrounds. This is a "make you feel good" package of enjoyment.

Loved this series from start to finish! High production values and excellent characters! The mysteries are engaging and nothing too vulgar or perverse goes on, quite nice when compared to a series like Lewis. What I like best is how the writing doesn't change from season to season and the characters remain themselves - no sudden personality changes to suit an odd plot or circumstance. Granted, i don't know who would hire these 2 after their reputation gets out that if you hire them to do your garden someone around you will be murdered.... even so, the story lines are great and the characters are likeable and real. If you like Miss Marple, Rosemary and Thyme are the same calibre and every bit as good (maybe even better!) 2 decent, very intelligent ladies, one an ex-university botany prof, start a landscaping business. The other, an ex-police officer, has a habit of asking "too many" questions. Put together they form a superb amateur detective duo who tend to find a lot of trouble amongst the petunias...

Merchandise arrived on time and in good order. The stories line in Rosemary and Thyme are straightforward and easy on the senses. What really makes the series a stand out are the beautiful and stately gardens that are used for the settings and the people who maintains these! The viewer should pay attention to the credits section where the names of the gardens, used in the program, are given. I was pleasantly surprised that these are really beautiful gardens one can visit; at least some of them. I wish there were more of these show because the characters are real and very identifiable and the locale superb.
