I ordered this to facilitate the ease of use of our hammock camping rigs. It’s super easy to work with and ridiculously strong! Hence the need for a super sharp knife!! Only thing is I wish I had gone ahead and ordered some Amsteel & shock cord at the same time!!! While not absolutely necessary the different cordages will make life easier! Once you learn a few fairly simple knots you are good to go!! Bling is an option and not a necessity (for grown-ups). My kids (10 & 11 yo) I would still advise some hammocking bling, just to make their set-up super simple and super fast, especially for the less than full-grown wing-spans!

Samson's Zing-It advanced cordage (Dyneema fiber) is similar to "Amsteel", and is well known by several followings. It is designed for nautical use, "zinging" a lightweight, highly durable cord across to shore or ship, then hauling over the huge, heavy lines to anchor a ship. Arborists use this for working with trees, hauling up gear, etc. Now backpackers and trekkers have discovered this as an ultralight ultra-strong cordage for the backcountry, using it for ridgelines for tarps, cordage to hang food away from critters, and other such uses. Zing It is yellow; Lash-It is grey. These are otherwise identical and come in a lighter weight and strength 1.75mm or this stronger 2.2mm. Both are hollow braid, and so can be spliced, taking advantage of the "compression knot" or Chinese finger puzzle binding technique. For the backpacker, this means loops can be formed, creating "continuous loops", "soft shackles", and "dog bones", and adjustable length cordage can be made ("whoopie slings"). While not

I am a knot nerd, and this is the best cord ever for camping and backpacking. Since I found this stuff, I no longer carry paracord in my pack. It's pretty much unbreakable, doesn't tangle easily, and holds knots well. It also splices well -- I can splice an eye or continuous loop in about 2 minutes using a folded-over guitar string as a fid. It is pricey, and worth it.

This line broke in fast, stacking nicely and thew straight pretty quickly. Haven’t had it long enough to say anything on durability. Stood up to some hard tugs with the weight caught in crotches and spun around branches. Seems to lose its color really fast, especially close to the weight. I personally don’t care as long as the line stands up to the abuse, but I know people care more about cosmetics than I do. Hopefully it’ll last longer than whatever brand we used last year. If this stuff disappoints I’ll try and remember to come back and update this.

Zing-it rope is amazing. Strong and light great for backpacking to hang bear bags. Little on the pricey side, but well worth the money when you want strong rope that doesn't take up much space.

I bought this to use a bear bag line. It has no problem hauling up my bag and sometimes 3 other bags if need be. The line is slick and lets it easily slide over tree branches without much abrasion. It also doesn't stretch easy making it well suited for the job.

I ordered the 2.2mm zing-it and received the 1.75mm lash-it. I'm not mad, just disappointed. I'm gonna try to use this for what I had planned and see if it still works.

Very strong line. Easy to splice. Love the high-visibility yellow for tarp guy lines, though the strength and size of this line is a bit overkill for that application. Have spliced loops for structural ridgelines on all of our hammocks and am considering making a set of whoopie slings for my young daughters hammock. Used Amsteel for my whoopies, but I feel like the Zing-It would be plenty strong enough for her <100# frame.
