OXFORD PICTURE DICTIONARY 3E

Excellent book for learning English. Oxford Picture Dictionary is very helpful for beginners. The pictures are clear and easy to understand. It helps me learn new words and improve my English vocabulary. I am very happy with this book. Highly recommended.

Oxford dictionaries are simply the best. But since English is a world language and not many 'tailored to need 'grammar and usage books are available the majority of human race is still away from an effective learning. Oxford picture dictionaries (there are two only perhaps) are certainly there to help build the vocabulary by simplifying the process. Congrats to Oxford but still there's much to be done.

大学受験用またはビジネス戦略の本を読む語彙はあっても、ハリーポッターを読んだときに、ブナの木（bookの語源になっているbeech tree)やふぐ（puffer fish)などの動植物の名前を知らないことに気づき、本書を手にしました。 本書で学んで自分の語彙にしたのは、日常会話でよく使う、「帯状疱疹」「認知症」「関節痛」「結核」などの病気名やさらに「悪寒（寒気）」「鼻づまり」など病気の諸症状と「聴診器」「聴診器を当てる」「採血する」等、それに対する病院での対応「入れ歯」などの語彙です。 全部で12セクションに分かれていますが、一番お世話になったのは6.Healthのセクションと、小学校の授業で身に付けているであろう、11. Academic Studyのセクションです。「光合成」「細胞膜」「細胞核」「原子核」など理科の分野、「立方体」「角錐」「円錐」「円柱」「球」の算数分野は言われれば、なるほどと思い当たるも、並べている絵を見てもすぐに出てきませんでした。 「西部開拓」「独立戦争」「権利の章典」の米歴史の分野、コマドリ、キツツキ、マダニなど動植物の名前などです。 この本の優れているところは、関連する言葉を絵を見ながら繋げて覚えられるところです。 頻出度順にアルファベット順で構成されている単語帳より、脳に優しく、記憶しやすいように出来ています。小学生から大人まで幅広い年代の方にお勧めです。
