I find this book is very straightforward and clear to use. It does come from an American publisher and the content within it is clearly American driven. With that being said for punctuation and grammar, it is universal. I also like the flow and sequence of the content. The table of contents makes it very easy to find and locate everything as it’s organizing separated in a simple way. Answer pages, however, are miniature versions, and a little harder to see

I'm a former high school English teacher turned homeschooling mom, and I've looked high and low for quality curriculum to teach my middle school student grammar. Most books are either too basic or filed with mistakes, and this is by far the best-- it's grade-appropriate, well-organized, and includes a few examples to help the adult doing the instruction. It could also be used as a stand-alone by a highly independent student who will actually read the examples and not skip over them. Is this perfect? No, but what is? I feel like my son is well prepared for high school after using this book. As a side note, we used this book in seventh grade simply because he was ahead of the standards for his grade. It would work for either grade. I would not use this if the student is needing remedial help, though.

My 8th grader is a very gifted writer. I thought this workbook was going to be easy for him, but I have found out how much he really does not know about grammar! I would recommend this book very highly to anyone who is homeschooling or wanting to supplement what their child is learning in school. The work is very challenging, but there is a section for a guided writing at the bottom of some of the pages that allows them to express their personality and apply what they are learning to their own context. One note though- as with all notebooks, I have found that I disagree with just a few of the answers in the answer key. But, I may be wrong also! It offers an opportunity for discussion as to why the student chose specific answers!

Like it for my daughter. Gives sufficient practise and instruction to cover the grade.

It reviews parts of speech and parts of a sentence at an intermediate level, and also includes subject-verb agreement, etc.
