Wow!!.....what a useful book!...bless that author! Guys...if you are looking forward to learning basic french, then this is absolutely the right book! The author's idea of organising this book is credible..one can find almost close to everything in this book...and his idea of including the pronounciations in paranthesis is awesome!...also u get a CD with this book where u get to hear french!....if u r finding your french study materials not very useful, buy this book without giving it a second thought guys..

This is a grammer and vocabulary packed tome. Beginners may be overwhelmed but good as a permanent reference and for revision

I really like the book, the quality is super good. and if you are trying to download the cd. go to the website as they mentioned in their book. enter you name and mail id. then right click on the "click here to download" link and select open in new incognito tab. then it will get downloaded

Don't think that this book will teach u everything about French,this book is for beginners and tourists . But to sum up this book is one of the best books for beginners and to add more, it makes learning French both fun and precise.The CD also helps in pronunciation. So I think u should give it a shot.

Best book ever on leaning French

This was an exceptional book. The book is accompanied by a CD that serves to help with the lessons in the book, therefore the issue of audio support is already sorted. The book has easy to intermediate lessons to sharpen French, and it is one of the best introductory books on self-teaching the language.

I can somewhat understand the negative reviews of this book, since my first impression of it when I picked it up in a bookstore were not too favorable. Then I happened to check the book out of the library, and the more I read it, the more I liked it, and I decided that I wanted a copy of my own, since I tend to write all over books that I actually use. I have been trying to learn enough French to read at least to some degree books (in French) I acquired for a particular hobby interest of mine. In this particular area, the most comprehensive and useful books are in French. Use of online translators and misguided use of a French-English dictionary helped some, but there was a great deal I was still confused about. Try looking up "Il y a" and see what you can find! French for Dummies cleared this up. "Il faut" appeared quite often in what I was reading. I kind of figured out what it meant, but French for Dummies made the real meaning very clear. I have found many presentations in this book extremely useful, and the arrangement that many complain about, for me, provides useful contextual clues that a more "normal" presentation is missing. If you think you can achieve a particular goal (reading French in my case, speaking for others) by just using this book, you are fooling yourself, but I don't think it is the book's fault. I also got French Essentials For Dummies (For Dummies (Language & Literature)) from Amazon, and these together with Intermediate French For Dummies (acquired elswhere) have collectively been very helpful to me, each with a different style and level of presentation.

It’s very good book. Very easy to follow. Cd is helpful too. I would recommend this book to everyone who wants to learn French.

This book is coming in handy, especially since I will be going to France next week. It is easy to read and gives me the basics I need to get a grasp of the language.

Oh yes! Buy this book. You don't have to be a dummy to own one. I bought one and It does what it says. I especially like how the authors try to write out the French pronunciations, syllables and stresses in English. It makes French so easy to attempt. La vie est belle, cet livre aussi!
