Another great from Inio Asano! Review: A strange story about alien invaders, where the alien invaders dont matter - It's basically taking an alien invasion and putting it to the level of, say, a natural disaster. It's of course horrible, but after awhile it becomes just another part of life. People around it stop caring. News doesnt cover it all that often. It's just there It's a weird and depressing story, as much of Asano's work is. And this is a good showcase of it. You care a lot for Kadode and her weird friend who wants to destroy all human life cause screw all y'all. Helped by very natural, engaging, and believeable dialouge, outstanding art, and that strange yet relatable premise. Also the title doesnt come into it so just nonsense.....glorious. From the first volume i'd say if youre a fan of Asano, or just peculiar slice of life stories, give this a shot

A strange story about alien invaders, where the alien invaders dont matter

Inio Asano's take on slice of life.
If you read this straight after oyasumi punpun, you will be very disappointed. Its not as serious, and more is trying to be moe. asano wanted to write a less depressing story then his previous work, he said he wanted to write something happy, so thats what he decided to do. The art style is more chibi and less realistic then his previous works, but the backgrounds are done the same way as previous. Story wise, its pretty chill, its about two girls trying to live life and get into college while dealing with changing situations in their life.

Cute look & illustrations . Good story. Simple
the story is good. cover looks great. The illustrations were so cute and fun. I need to pay attention more to ratings of books though. lol. Each volume is so cute for a book shelf with its own color.

A solid start with enough of Asano's quirky writing to keep you invested.
Kinda fresh off Punpun and craved more Inio Asano. Dead Dead Demon has the potential to be something really profound. I found this to be a really strong start for the series, that has that same sort of slow buildup of Asano's; with a peculiar development at the end of the volume. No spoils, of course. I'm sensing the story will be a little more lighthearted and funnier than Punpun; only because Asano seems to be setting a different tone here, and the art-style seems to be a little more cartoon-y. What I really love about his work is that every character is distinct in appearance; never uniform, multifaceted with unusual quirks and mannerisms. I think this is showcased really well here, and we already have a particularly endearing protagonist in Kadode and hilarious companion in Ontan.

Inio Asano does it again
Hey already has great manga like solanin& the girl on the shore, but he finds another way avenue to create a great manga. This one reminds me a lot of district 9.

because people just want to read happy stories about cute girls
Inio is a little upset with otaku. Punpun killed a magazine, because people just want to read happy stories about cute girls. So here's a happy story about cute girls. Except he literally Independence Day's Tokyo Big Sight [the location of Comiket every year], because he's a little upset with otaku. I'm not sure if this entire thing is passive aggressive, but it's fantastic.

This manga takes everything great about Inio Asano's previous works and adds a layer of happiness on top of it. The manga is mostly wholesome and the characters are funny and work well. The artwork and art style is amazing, combining the style of Asano's previous works with a newer more abstract style that adds to the strange context of the story. This series is definitely worth the read.

Reading this I was struck by how it seemed a like a metaphor for climate change- this huge thing that hangs over us, but mostly people try and ignore it and get on with their lives. We see it mostly from the perspective of a group of young women nearing the end of their secondary schooling. They live mostly comedic lives in a context of increasing tension and adult irrationality and occasional localised violence. I also recognised the situation. My secondary school life involved going into Belfast every day from 1970 to 1977, so there's a lot about the story is familiar and perhaps it gives me an appreciation for the dark comedy I sometimes lack. Linking these ideas feels like part of an answer to why I haven't done much about climate change. I'm hoping facing how my earlier experience has still been affecting me will help me be active now. So for me this is art which has led me to re-examine my life and has presented me with a challenge to change it. I don't know it gets better than this.

By far my favourite current author, and this series to which I newly intoduced myself to only cements that. If you're unfamiliar with Asano's work but would like to get acquainted, this is a great place to start.

Não sou fã do autor mas essa obra em especial tem um pezinho na ficção. Fiquei bem curioso para os próximos volumes.
