Bravo!
It was time to retire the venerable, nearly 40 year old aluminum Italian espresso maker and after a very thorough search I found the Giannina available to us here in the U.S. It arrived very quickly and well packaged from the seller in Milan. This one is all stainless steel inside and out and very nicely polished, detailed and made. It looks nice on the stove top where it always rests ready. It makes an excellent coffee, for us it's perfect for two average sized cups using a strong, quality dark roast or likely 4-6 espresso / cafe zinho style coffee cups. The delicious and nostalgic scent of Italian style coffee perfumes the whole room as the coffee readies on the stove. The water heats quickly, the handle does not get too hot to touch, and the twist lock handle is nicer than the more common screw top of other makers. This is an excellent "luxury purchase" and one which I hope will last a very long time. Why not have one of the first actions of the day be an interaction with a thing of beauty, quality and delicious taste too?

Best quality and value in a stovetop espresso maker that I've found. Heavy duty stainless. Locking design (rather than screwtop) which is easier on the hands... killer coffee!

I bought my 6/3 Giannina in a shop outside Florence last year ... I was so pleased with its appearance and design that I thought I might be imagining the espresso also tasted better than decades of espresso made in a dozen different pots and machines. It does though, and the aesthetics of this pot still please me a year on. Using the Giannina twice a day, the gasket finally disintegrated after 8 months. Replacement gaskets from Consiglieri in Toronto (3 for ~ $20 including shipping to US). The pressure safety valve clogged after a guest tried to make coffee without water, charred and then thoroughly cleaned the pot (was I not the model of uncaffeinated restraint and composure that morning?) so I am investigating sources for possible replacement ... I see that the valve–and gaskets as well–are available at a shop in NJ called Piccolo's (when in NYC ...). And regarding the design of the handle: the shopkeeper where I bought the Giannina was very enthusiastic about the way the handle swivels down and snaps the two parts of the pot together. He especially liked that this operation could be done using only one hand–unlike pots that screw on–and indeed he corralled a passing friend who had lost one of his hands to demonstrate. This man obliged, and opened and closed the pot in one deft motion. I think he was practiced, though–it took me a few days to master the alignment and closure using two hands. Well worth the effort, though.

Had one of these I ordered from ‘Manufactum’ back in 2018 so really glad Amazon are selling these now. My original Giannina Induction Large Espresso Maker is thankfully still going strong, and the large is a good size if you prefer a mug of coffee with added milk rather than espresso size. Machine is very good looking with a sleek, simple design, and very easy to use. I’ve purchased this second Giannina Induction Espresso Maker, recently as I accidentally dropped the strainer part of my pot in the bin when emptying the coffee grounds and didn’t realise until it was too late! So rather than hunting around trying to get a replacement strainer, as the machines are so good i opted to just buy a whole new machine. I expect this one to sit in the cupboard for some time as my first machine is still going strong.
