Password Reset CD (This Product)

A relative of ours has a 7 yr old Gateway desktop running Windows 8.1 that she had abandoned 3 yrs ago because it was running so poorly (read perpetual user error). Her plan was to just dispose of it because, after 3 yrs of collecting dust, she didn't have a clue about any of the passwords, and her "password reminder" was so vague it was no help at all... therefore she thought there was no way to even get by the login screen. I asked her to let me try to get it up and running, and then maybe she could at least donate it instead of just tossing it out. I ordered this disc, followed the instructions that accompanied the disc EXACTLY as printed, and it worked perfectly... allowing me to boot the old computer and get rid of the forgotten passwords, therefore allowing me access to hopefully begin to repair the poor computer. It worked perfectly! A suggestion.. the instructions really should have a reminder at the end of the procedure to be sure that, after the final restart, you need to go back to the BIOS again and reset the boot order back to the hard drive first instead of the DVD/USB. Just a thought that might save someone from having a panic moment after this repair :-)

This says it works for Windows 10. It doesn't. The instructions are impossible to understand. They are even numbered strangely (i.e. 1, 2, 4, 5) Where's step number 3. I couldn't get disc to work so I tried their tech support. Got no response. So I took it to Staples. They couldn't even understand the instructions. Finally, they called a computer geek master who was able to determine that the disc does not work for Windows 10. I returned it.

So I'm the parent that changes the password on the computer daily to prevent her son from getting on the computer until he's finished his chores. Only this time I forgot the password. I tried every hack in the book, spent hours and then finally gave up and ordered this disk feeling like a failure. I WISH I'D ORDERED IT SOONER. 3 minutes after it arrived on my porch I was into the computer and a veritable hero to the Roblox community:) Easy to use, great value, can't thank you enough.

I have a UEFI boot system, and I was relatively thorough and methodical when hardening my machine; I was very skeptical at first but at the same time not anxious to blow everything away and start over. I was very concerned about boot security, and wanted to take full advantage of the onboard TPM on my machine. I followed the instructions that came with the DVD, selected the desired account after booting to the DVD, and successfully changed the Built in Admin account PW, to blank, in MS WIN 10 Pro environment. I was then able to assign a new password, and ascertain the account configuration, keep or change settings, of which I kept all. I moved on to the next account, and changed all settings to the desired groups, permissions or privileges. So far I have not seen any indications of malicious code residing on my SSD. What was odd was, I changed the default account security policies to reflect that; (blank passwords) could not be used on local accounts. After booting to the DVD, and editing an admin account that was found, I was able to successfully login to the discovered admin account without a password… I quickly changed the password to a strong multi character password, and I’m now pleasantly surprised.

It was fast and easy. They gave a few keys to open computer and if those didn't work, a sight for add'l ones. The only thing that was a problem is everyone isn't an IT person and they should have step by step for those people. Other than that I am satisfied.

It helped me reset my password on windows 7 on computer relative had given me. It did not work exactly as described on directions. I changed bootup as instructions indicated. I put in drive and it would not read the disk. Did it twice till it gave me error on the screen. I tried it later on the same day and It displayed info on screen and was able to proceed. It did take a long time to loadup info. Or at least longer than I anticipated it would take.

Could not get cd to work followed instructions tried Several time would.not load since it was an older labtop thought might be the pc so tried on a newer pc and still would not load don't waste your money

I wanted to reset the admin password on my home computer. This disk did some things but was not able to get to the reset. We went with the USB device, which worked perfectly.
