I purchased this flash as something I could pocket when I carried the x100VI around town or on vacation. It is basically an upgraded phone flash, it seems to me, with a slightly bigger spread but a great falloff where the flash does not reach. Basically, this is good for certain situations and really not suitable for others (group shots, say or something that needs a whole body shot). Not bad to portraits that are not too close. The problem with this flash is you only have three "modes" of dailing the flash back. Let's call them 1/3, 2/3, and full. I rarely use this flash on full because it causes overexposure at the range you need to use it, so I go 1/3 about 90% of the time. Like a little fill flash to light up a face or change a shadow. That is its real utility, I think. So if you are a beginner, you might not like the way this flash operates, but if you have been shooting ahile, of can use your camera on manual mode, you can probably get some worth out of this flash.

This compact little flash looked promising and seemed like a good addition to my camera setup. The compact, USB-charged device fits well on my camera and is small enough to fit comfortably in my camera bag. After fully charging it, I performed some manual tests, which worked perfectly. However, the hot shoe connection to my camera is a bit too tight, and after multiple attempts, it failed to trigger when I enabled the flash feature on my camera. If I can resolve this issue and get it to work reliably in the future, I will revise my review. For now, however, its performance is disappointing.
