I ordered the Radiant Cookbook after attending a talk by the author at a local wellness festival. I have been enjoying reading through this cookbook, as it is much more than just recipes. As someone who is learning how to make plant-based eating part of my lifestyle, I have found this book to be highly educational. There are chapters on ingredients, kitchen equipment, nutrients, and lifestyle tips. The book is well-organized by category, so it is easy to follow, and the end even includes a useful index of links to specific products for easier sourcing of ingredients or kitchen tools. While some of the recipes seem quite in depth, they are very approachable after attempting for the first time. I can't wait to start experimenting in the kitchen with so many ingredients that are new to me!

I was like a little kid on Christmas morning when this beauty arrived. I read it like an exciting new novel, and with all of the amazing and easy to follow recipes and beautiful pictures, I was rapidly making my grocery list to get started. I have tried a few so far and have been very happy with how they turned out. No Pinterest Fails here guys! For anyone trying to become plant based or encourage their friends/family or picky little eaters, this is a perfect way to get your feet wet! Definitely in my top three favorite plant based cook books now! :)

This is a beautiful cookbook - artfully laid out and with vibrant photography. The vibrancy of the photos is thanks to the fresh and alive ingredients used throughout the recipes, with a focus on raw foods. Delicious recipes along with easy-to-follow teachings about specific foods and their benefits. This book is for anyone who wants simple and delicious ways to use food as medicine.

This book is so beautiful that, if you don't already eat a raw, vegan, power food-filled diet, you will want to. The beginning of the book is all about the ingredients used and what each specific one will add to your health. In addition, most of the recipes have a paragraph about the benefits contained therein. Once you start reading, you will want to make everything. One thing to note first off: many of the ingredients are fairly to very expensive, even though the recipes may only require a teaspoon here and a teaspoon there. I went to buy the schizandra berries/powder to make the stunningly beautiful Rose Quartz Latte, but I could not find it anywhere. I finally found it at a local health food market for $81.99/lb!!! Hopefully, that's the most expensive ingredient used in the book, but I have to admit to having a certain amount of sticker shock. As far as the more esoteric ingredients go, I've found that, once you start to use them, you find lots of ways to do so. I use maca, turmeric and lucuma in smoothies pretty regularly, although I once thought them rather exotic. (On the exotic topic, however, I could not find young Thai coconut meat for the Coconut Whipped Cream anywhere, so that recipe has been moved to the back burner for now.) That said, there are many good and good-for-you recipes in this book that don't require more than supermarket items. Initially, I stuck to the salad dressings to test the recipe waters here. The Green Goddess is a good one, although I did not put spiralina in mine, so it lacked that extra health booster but was really delish. I also made the Orange Maple Dressing, using the recipe for the salad it goes on as a rough outline (I cheated and used real feta cheese instead of making my own out of nuts), and it was yummy. So far, I've only moved a little beyond those to the Butternut Squash Soup with Apple & Sage, which was really delicious, and the Indian Salad Bowl with Crunchy Chickpeas & Mango Chutney. That was interesting because of the fresh mango chutney, as opposed to a cook one, but we loved the taste and texture combinations and felt like we were eating a delicious bowl of health. I'm dying to try the author's version of nut cheeses, but I have cold feet after trying a number that did not work at all for me. I also had occasionally amazing cashew Hollandaise in restaurants, but disasters following recipes for it. If I do try this one, I'll update because a good one is truly worth finding. The bottom line is: If you are going to try to incorporate more plant-based, power-food items into your diet, this book will inspire you to take the step. It is beautiful and the author provides a lot of accessible recipes with those that may initially seem more exotic. She has a wonderful sense of flavor, and combines them into delicious dishes.
