Product Description From the creators of The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child comes Room on the Broom, a beautifully animated film based on the best-selling children’s picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. This is the story of a kind witch who invites a surprising collection of animals to join her on her broom, much to the frustration of her cat. When the gang saves the witch from a fearsome dragon, she rewards them with a magnificent new broom with room for everyone! Room on the Broom is a magical tale of friendship and family directed by Max Lang & Jan Lachauer with the voices of Gillian Anderson, Rob Brydon, Martin Clunes, Simon Pegg, Sally Hawkins, Timothy Spall and David Williams. Review I need to start out by saying, that Room on the Broom (available August 6th!) is not a Halloween movie. The movie is based on a marvelous Julia Donaldson book and is a great read for any time of year. But, seeing a witch on a broomstick reminds me of Halloween. I can't help it. And that reminds me of fall -- my favorite time of year. But alas, we're still in the middle of summer so I better enjoy that while it lasts. Room on the Broom comes from the same people who brought us the fantastic Gruffalo DVDs (also based on Julia Donaldson books). If you have a young child and haven't seen these movies, you and your kids are missing out. I don't say that lightly and not very often, but these movies are just that great. They are high quality and meaningfully done. Not only that, but your kids will be absolutely captivated by them. As a bonus, they are educational because you can read the books with your kids and then compare and contrast the stories and talk more about the characters and little literary or visual devices such as rhyming, description, and interesting background visuals in the movies. --Carey Bryson, About.com Review: Charming and Wholesome Story That Kids Absolutely Love - This short film adaptation of Room on the Broom is wonderful from start to finish. The animation is beautiful, the characters are adorable, and the story stays true to the beloved book. My kids were completely engaged the whole time and have already asked to watch it again. It has just the right amount of adventure, humor, and heart, making it perfect for family movie nights. The voice acting (not a lot of it) is excellent and adds warmth to the story, especially for young children who already love the book. Even though it is a short film, it feels complete and satisfying, and it carries a nice message about kindness and friendship. It is a great option for kids who enjoy gentle stories without anything too scary or intense. The pacing is perfect for little ones, and it keeps their attention without dragging. This is one of those movies that parents enjoy right alongside the kids. Review: Beautiful, calming short film. - The "Room on the Broom" has been a favorite for my son and I. It's a nice story. Watching it is very relaxing and entertaining. It's great to watch near nap time or bedtime. It such a sweet, peaceful watch that your mind can just relax. The kids enjoy it and then fall right to sleep once it ends. I love it.

Low stimulation
We love the book, and now the film! They fill the cartoon with a lot of silent action to make it longer- but it’s very cute. I’d classify it as one of those “low stimulation” shows that are great for toddlers. I think my almost 3 year old watched it 5-6 times this October. A few words are different than the American version of book (for example, they say plat instead of braid), but my toddler didn’t seem to notice or care.

One of the best books out there, Room on the Broom for kids is so fun! A favorite in our household for so long. My daughter enjoyed the movie; the only disappointment was that they changed the lines in the book from the movie in some parts and it was noticed. Especially the all important, "I`ll have witch and chips with my tea"- in the movie it is "witch and french fries"? They should have left it as it was in the book. I don't know if we were to buy the European version it might still say chips? I don't know but it really bugs my 4 yr old.

Wir hatten das Buch und haben den Film über die Feiertage in der Kika Mediathek gesehen. Dort ist er mittlerweile wieder entfernt, aber er hat den Kindern (und Eltern) so gut gefallen, dass wir ihn gekauft haben.

My son loved the Gruffalo books and so I bought Room on The Broom movie, The Gruffalo movie & The Gruffalo's Child movie - its been almost a year and they are still his favourite shows & when you are a parent and get to watch the same shows over & over, these by Julia Donaldson are still entertaining to me a year later as well. Room On The Broom & The Gruffalo's Child are my little guy's most watched. Brilliant books, brilliant movies.
