(45th Edition) Review: A fascinating and informative motorcycle history reference - Motorcycles is a wonderful book on some interesting motorcycles through history. Of course, no reasonably sized book can cover every interesting or significant motorcycle since the machine was invented but the examples presented here are quite varied and come from all motorcycling eras through to the present. The book itself feels fine in hand and is a a good size to carry around and read out and about. The size does limit the actual size of the photographs presented but every photo and illustration is quite clear and full of detail. The only gripe would be that the introductory photo for each motorcycle presented is a two page spread which means the photo gets cut between the left- and right-hand pages. But this is the compromise with a book that can be easily carried in hand. The pictures for each motorcycle include not only the full two-page side shot and various close up detail shots, but also historical photos, marketing materials, and engineering drawings for most of the entries. There are illustrations throughout the book; every time there is a full page of text across it is full page photo. But even though Motorcycles is chock full of pictures it isn't simply a pictorial book. Every entry is accompanied by well a written history of not just the machine but of the personalities involved. This is a great book for the motorcycle enthusiast. Review: Motorcycles - Good book Nice pictures Easy read
