Reliable, well-built gate latch that feels secure
I installed the Safetech Hardware Magnetic Side Pull Gate Latch on my backyard gate, and I’m really impressed with both the design and performance. The magnetic catch works smoothly every time, and it gives a reassuring click when the gate closes so you know it’s secure. The build quality feels solid and durable, not like the flimsy plastic latches I’ve replaced in the past. It handles constant use and different weather conditions without sticking or fading. I also appreciate that it’s self-latching, which adds peace of mind when you have pets or kids running around. Installation was straightforward and didn’t require any special tools. The included instructions were clear and easy to follow. Once mounted, the latch aligned perfectly and required very little adjustment. What stands out most is the magnetic design—it keeps the latch closed even if the gate shifts slightly due to temperature changes or ground movement. It’s a smart feature that solves a common problem with standard mechanical latches. Overall, this is a high-quality, dependable latch that looks good and performs even better. It’s ideal for pool gates, backyard fences, or anywhere you want a cleaner look and a reliable closure. Definitely worth the investment if you want something that will last for years.

SafeTech? More like ‘Break-In Tech!
Don't waste your cash on the SafeTech magnetic gate lock-it's flimsy junk. Bought two, and they're not solid at all; easy to break into if you're counting on security. As a fence contractor, I've tested them-they're useless. Skip this, get something tougher that's actually worth the money.

Neat, solid magnetic gate latch
This latch works surprisingly well. I had concerns that it might rebound quick enough that it would not latch fully and bounce open, but it is quite secure. It takes a little getting used to, but it does the job. One shortcoming is that if you get very wet snow or freezing rain, water can get into the plunger tube and freeze up solid, rendering the latch inoperable until it warms up or otherwise gets thawed out. I've put a dab of oil in it after thawing and then applying some WD-40 to eliminate the water, and it seems to be staying functional so far. I got mine through Vine.

Like this latch but lacks any instructions
The magnetic latch is actually a great device to secure your gate, but it lacks any instructions to release the latch covers to install the screws. I finally figured out that you need to pry the two clips inward on the bottom of the latch sections to get the covers to release. Once I figured that out the installation was easy but it took a bit to get this covers released. A simple instruction would save customers time in opening these latch covers. This magnetic latch comes with 5 pieces: 2 spacers, 2 sides of the latch, and installation screws. I would still recommend this latch but would make sure customers are aware of the process to remove the latch covers.
