desertcart.com: Quiet Riot: CDs & Vinyl Review: the second BEST Quiet Riot album!!! - This is the Second Best album by Quiet Riot just behind "Metal Health". Paul Shortino is the vocalist on this album who replaced Kevin DuBrow after he left the band at that time. Shortino is a more bluesier, Robert Plant/David Coverdale type of singer who does Very well on these recordings. The sound is different because of the singing style, but this album ROCKS nonetheless. A Must-have for Quiet Riot fans. I only wish Shortino had recorded more records with this band instead of DuBrow returning on the rest of QR's follow-up releases. Review: Not your typical QR album, but its awesome - Ex-Rough Cutt singer Paul Shortino takes over vocals on this one. And he absolutely rocks. If you looking for classic QR then you will not find it here. What you will find is a collection of really good 80's heavy metal songs by an awesome singer and an awesome band. The track "Stay with me tonight" is still one of my all time favorite songs from the era.

my second favorite quiet riot album - they should have kept this singer
3.5 out of 5 stars. This is easily my second favorite Quiet Riot album after Metal Health. I don't miss Kevin at all on it. The songs are not goofy and the album plays well from start to finish. This is a hidden gem.

Best CD by this band
...He is an ok vocalist, but there is a reason why he was and is so hated by his peers and they can't sell albums. Whereas Paul Shortino is considered by his peers and legions of fans to be one the the best vocalists of this generation. This was an ill-fated album due to the flux the band was in. But if you prod the members of QR excluding...Dubrow, they say this is the best music, lyrics they have ever written. Very solid album.

Excellent (though mostly ignored) album from QR...
I don't give many albums 4.5 stars straight up, but for a band like Quiet Riot -- this is deserving every bit of five stars as it is easilly the best album all-around that QR put out. In for this release (and for the better) is ex-Rough Cutt singer Paul Shortino, along with his former cohort from the Cutt days Sean McNabb replacing Rudy Sarzo who had went off to play with Whitesnake. Shortino's vocals are near flawless here, excellent, punchy, and very melodic unlike the average voice Kevin DuBrow had. Kevin indeed was a great showman and still the original voice of QR... The songs are all so original and excellently written, and sound just superb no to mention the ever so important aspect of much better accompanying vocals by Shortino; and Carlos Cavazo I would say was at his best here as far as guitar licks go, at least on album. The standout tracks include the opener Stay With Me Tonight, Joker, the awesome instrumental/guitar solo Lunar Obsession, Coppin' A Feel, and Promises. Every track here is tight and very good and probably would still hold their own today because this album was the sole release from this line-up (Shortino wouldn't stick around much past 1989 when the rest of the band went on a few years hiatus), and was taken off the shelves years ago so it is now out of print and pretty rare. Again, this is probably the best album Quiet Riot put out IMO, though many die-hard DuBrow fans would disagree. This album was miles better than the previous two or three that DuBrow and company had put out in the mid 80's, and is also better than some of the recent QR albums with the reunited line-up which are indeed good -- but this just sounds much better. If you can't find it, do yourself a favor and make your own cd here and burn every track. This is a gem of an album for one of the "pretty good" hair bands of that genre.

Paul Shortino Is A Awesome Vocalist
This is the best Quiet riot Album I beleive there was, Paul came from a awesome 80's metal band called ROUGH CUTT. There fist album was called ROUGH CUTT and there second album was called ROUGH CUTT WANTS YOU. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THESE TWO ALBUMS GET THEM!!!!!!! I give this album 10 stars it is awesome check it out.

HALF QUIET RIOT
This is a very good album but this is only one half of Quiet Riot, only Cavazo and Banali from the Metal Health era. But listen to the songs, forget the name printed on the sleeve, enjoy good music !

A very underrated, underappreciated CD
Around the second half of 1988, it was just 5 years after Quiet Riot was bursting onto the mainstream with their hit record called METAL HEALTH. This album, however, was destined to be a disaster before it was ever recorded. Former frontman, Kevin DuBrow was insulting his peers and his record company, etc, the people there to help them. The public and music industy hated him unanimously, which helped make their next records commercial disasters. In 1987, Quiet Riot, clinging onto the little glory they still had, dumped DuBrow in favor of former Rough Cutt vocalist Paul Shortino, and they also brough Sean McNabb to play bass (who is currently in Great White) and Jimmy Waldo (formerly of Alcatraz) on keyboards. The result is a very different, very good, new Quiet Riot. These eleven songs are an incredible collection. The guitars on songs like Stay With Me Tonight, Coppin a Feel, King of the Hill, Callin the Shots are a lot darker, and the bad screaming of Kevin Dubrow is replaced with the full, bluesy vocals of Paul Shortino. Quiet Riot had everything going for them, except for the fact that they were Quiet Riot. I feel that if the name of the band was some name other than Quiet Riot, this album would have sold a lot better. Which is sad because Paul Shortino is one of the most underrated hard rock vocalists of all time. If you had the curiousity to click on this page for more info, I highly reccomend you get this disc.

QRサウンドはブルージーな感じになってますが、それも愛嬌。聞き手によっては二分するアルバムです。最近ではリマスターが出ているなら「QR」もリマスターして欲しいんだけど・・・。
