[DO NOT BUY] a tragically & unnecessarily bad product from an otherwise great product company
It is with heavy heart that I convey how terrible this product is. I've had this Dyson robot vacuum for around 6 months. it is set up to clean one large almost entirely empty room with extremely low industrial carpet. the HW itself seems pretty great with amazing suction that cleans noticeably better than my previous Neato vacuum. However, there are persistent SW issues that make it incredible frustrating to use. I kept hoping a SW update would fix the issues, but i have now given up on that hope. Issues I routinely encounter include: dropping off the WiFi network for no reason (i have other Dyson products like air cleaners that *never* fall off the network) and then being very tricky to get back on the network. his is probably the most annoying given it takes 5-10 minutes to get it back onto the network (which I'll complain more about below). The second most annoying issue is getting "stuck" which is ludicrous given how simple and empty the room is... and to be clear "stuck" seems to mean it bumped into the wall or a simple object like a pole (see photos) whereas other times the robot will just stop in the middle of the totally empty room and declare it is "stuck". There are a few other similar and seemingly related failure modes... like the robot will not indicate it is "stuck" but will just stop in the middle of the room and let the battery drain. Even when it is working well, the app UI (i am on iOS) for managing the WiFi is terrible. If you are (or were previously) connected to a network and go to manage WiFi you cannot see what network you are/were connected to... you can only add a new WiFi connection which will overwrite whatever was previously there. If my robot has fallen off the network and I go to do that it then will allow me to reconnect to the same network and tell me it was successfully connected but frequently it is not actually connected (i.e., I still cannot communicate with the robot via WiFi... just over BT for settings management) so it takes a few tries repeating that for the robot to successfully connect. It seems to work best if I switch WiFi networks instead of trying to reconnect to the one it already dropped off. In any case, you get the idea. Just a tragically and unnecessarily bad product from an otherwise great product company.

Best Robot Vacuum on the market, hands down!
I have read a few less than flattering reviews on the Dyson Robo vac. While I understand those who complain about the lack of features for the price, i.e. no mop or auto emptying functions. I believe that when you buy the Dyson you understand those are not features on the machine, and instead you are getting a Dyson. A superior built superior vacuum. The Dyson indeed is exactly this. The machine appears to be built like a Dyson in every way. It vacuums far better than others that we have tried. It also has a very easy and efficient emptying system. Very similar to all of the other Dyson products that we have owned. I read another complaint about the filters being expensive and needing to be replaced. It is similar to our other Dysons in that you can easily clean the filter and should last a lifetime. My wife and I will purchase a replacement to simply rotate them as we do with all of our Dyson vacuums. Like everything else Dyson, your initial purchase price is your price. No replacement parts needed. Even the amazing rollers can easily be cleaned. I also saw a complaint about edge cleaning. this is non-sense. The little brush, scooper, whatever you call it automatically pops out and can get the edges far better than those spinning little brushes that scatter the dirt that others use. I have also seen reviews saying that the software is difficult. Honestly, this is by far the most superior app that I have used. For example, the EcoVac cleaned very well, but the app of terrible. Difficult to connect to both the phone and the Wi-Fi and constantly lost connection. And then reconnecting it took a very long time. The customer service was even worse than the app. The Dyson connections and setup took minutes. It stayed connected and worked flawlessly. I was actually able to load the app onto my wife's phone and login and all of the settings, maps, activities, etc. showed up immediately on her phone. What could be easier? The unit ran perfect on the schedule I created. It returned to the docking station to recharge when needed and then continued where it had left off cleaning. Our 2600 sq ft single story house took the unit one recharge to clean completely. We use the quite mode since it is both quiet and still outperforms any other that we have tried, including the close second, EcoVac (with the horrendous app and customer service). Maybe some of the complaints come from initial software? Ours immediately downloaded software update when we first turned it on. I have read that Dyson has been very diligent releasing updates to the software system, and they are automatically loaded onto your machine. It is possible that these updates have resolved initial issues. What I do know is that the unit performed exactly as expected and as we hoped it would. I give the Dyson my top rating because it gives us exactly what we wanted in a robot vacuum. Rosie is our new best cleaning maid, I mean friend! I 100% recommend purchasing it so long as you understand you are buying a vacuum.

Poor functionality with software and interface.
I have used a Neato D7 for 8 years. When they shut down the server we looked to get another "D" shaped vacuum. Dyson was the top choice. We purchased it based on Dyson's reputation and it's claims. Dyson vacuums well and was easy to empty and clean the filter. However, we are used to the Lidar on the Neato. Dyson does NOT use Lidar making it not be able to vacuum in dark places. We had to turn on the lights so it wouldn't get lost or stop cleaning. It also needed sufficient light to find the dock to redock itself. We added a nightlight above the dock so it could find it. In the first week of using the Dyson, it had several errors, mostly that the "airway was blocked". The airway was completely clear and clean. Then it gave a problem error when no problem existed. Had to power it off and back on again to clear the error. I called Dyson support and they were very little help. They told me I needed to delete and reinstall the app. Other problems: we had to map the entire house twice before it got a somewhat accurate map. When it cleans it overlays the cleaning on top of the map. It is not accurate and they don't line up. Although you can create zones, you can NOT schedule to clean different zones. The schedule is for the entire house ONLY. Even cleaning an area of 700 sq ft, it couldn't do it on one battery charge. The software and interface has much to be desired for usability and dependability. I returned the vacuum after 8 days of using it because it failed my expectations miserably. I am spoiled by my Neato D7.
