Q: What is the smallest circle this compass can make?

I just comfortably made a circle about the size of a nickel without making any changes to the setup of the compass. However, the limiting factor seemed to be the length of the pencil lead. It appears as if you can loosen the apparatus holding the lead and extend the lead a little. This would give you a much smaller circle. I was not willing to try as I have big clumsy hands and I would lose the lead for sure.

Q: What is the largest size circle this compass can draw?

I don't have it with me right now, but I'm guessing 7-8 inches of radio. Great compass, I use it for marine charts work.
