Well lets say your working on an engine block and you want to check the thread on one of the holes, if you have the thread checker that’s hanging on the wall your S.O.L. With this beauty you pop the checker out of the case and Bam you know the thread size. Clearly marked, checks male and female threads and it’s all packed in a case you can grab and bring it anywhere (if your flying I would recommend putting in your checked luggage so you are not tempted to show everyone on the flight how great it is)

I’m really pleased with this kit! I was looking for one of the plate style checkers after using one at a buddy’s shop a couple of times. For years and years at my shop I had used taps, a thread gage, a micrometer, a calibrated eyeball and luck. That’s no way to go through life. Anyway, I saw this one and liked the idea of being able to check threads in the nearly infinite number of places a plate won’t fit. I ordered the HSS version as I think it will hold up better/longer than the Al version, and as a bonus it’s cheaper. I really like the format. The case is decent, and the foam holds the gages securely so a tip-over doesn’t scatter them to the land of the 10mm socket. They have holes so they could be strung on a light (as in not heavy) cable, etc. if that’s your thing. They work very well. I’m a little (!) skeptical of the claim that they are HSS, but they are indeed steel. I dragged them over to my buddy’s shop to show them off and he instantly ordered a set. $18? Come on. A great value for a great little set.

Great set, keep by my workbench for sorting stuff to store. Been cleaning out a lot of stuff and this has been great.

I had a large amount of hardware to sort and this was a great tool. The storage box is great too. Not too large so easy to store The letters inside the case wear quickly but the individual parts are marked clearly

This is a good set and has already helped me identify somewhat obscure bolt sizes (1/2-20 for example). Like all of these thread checker sets, none seem to have the elusive 12-24 size even though this size is fairly common in network racks. Case and foam holder for the thread checker pieces are very nice in this set!

This is a very convenient way of being able to quickly check thread sizes.

What a useful tool! I can guess sizes but metric pitch I cannot. Somebody put some time into this

We got the high speed steel one because we thought the aluminum threads might wear out and we absolutely love it. It's very simple to check a bolt size and thread pitch now.

Very happy to receive this gauge very quickly as I needed it to match up a bolt that i had stripped on my snowmobile. Neighbour and I had tried everything to repair bolt beforehand to no avail. Once I received this, I was able to confirm that it was what I thought it was and was able to do the die repair after that. I am really happy I purchased this particular set and I have a feeling the neighbours will be borrowing it from me. It is well built and the pieces stay in their place so as to not be all over the place.
