Platform Ecosystems: Aligning Architecture, Governance, and Strategy

I wasn't thinking of posting a review, but after reading the more recent books about platforms ( which in one case took less than an hour) I realized how much better this one was. It has much more depth and insight than the five or so books on the same topic that are out there. It thus is more suited to the strategy professionals, more advanced classes ( maybe at the MBA level) and business executives whose company's survival may hinge on whether they build or participate in a platform. The book is written with a sense of humor, has many charts and examples, and a solid glossary. I recommend it strongly.

More like a text book, but very good for the price.

I am a seasoned, well-read IT professional with many decades of experience in business alignment to IT and business architecture and strategy. This book is well worth the time to read and take notes from it. It cannot be read casually and serious note-taking and absorption are important. Given the steady move to Platforms over the last decade, this is an essential book. This book will help you create a foundation to influence the future strategy of you firm

I've been researching platforms and business models, this book once I found it at a a price I was willing to pay, has been excellent. All the other books are good including Choudry's seminal work but this one is the one book on platform business models I would recommend. Very pleased at it's utility.

Good book, a bit technical for a non-tech person, needs more real world examples to further prove concepts. Totally agree with author on his thesis and recommended strategies.

Very clear! Very well written and a little comical if I might add. I think the best part about this book is the reference to research. Its academic in the sense it's not just bulls*** opinions, but it has real concpets. It is a pleasure to read. The illustrations and charts make everything visually clear.

Loved the blend of technical architecture and product marketing strategy. There are many forces at play to transform into a platform business and cultivate an ecosystem.

This is one book that is a must-read if you want to understand the power and unique position of platforms. Everyone wants to call themselves by this term but what they really are is a campaign or a program using a fancy title. Read it slow...let it simmer...mark it up. It's THE book!
