Excellent product
Brilliant camera and easy to setup. Range from base unit to the cameras can be as far as 40 meters (signal is still 1 bar to the base unit)- I also have very slow wifi, so at 4mbps download and about 1.5mbps upload, there is a slight lag but okay. Had the cameras 3 weeks now and they lose about 5% a week so 4 months use when it is below 5 degrees outside is fully credible. Clarity during the day is HD, at night they are okay but really need say a spotlight to ensure you see everything. The functionality is great as you can zoom, review clips, speak to people and of course set an alarm. I use the geofencing which arms the cameras as soon as I am out the house automatically. Only gripe is that someone needs to make aftermarket batteries as the OEM Arlo ones are astronomical. I considered the Ring Spotlight and the Blink XT but am so much happier with this choice.

Don't expect perfection.
I purchased the Arlo Pro 2 cameras and base station for the wireless capability and ability for them to work without extending WiFi outdoors or having to have a power source and for that they have lived up to expectations. The Arlo base station is indoors and easily communicates with the outdoor cameras, even the one that is over 20 metres away from the house. The camera's internal batteries are long lasting and I expect them to go several weeks between charges unless you use live view a lot. The cameras capture video when motion detection is on and send an alert to your mobile phone wherever you are and you can then review the footage. Each camera has the ability to capture sound and when in live view you can talk to whoever is at your front door, although I doubt the speed of response of the system will make that feature much use. The wireless feature of the cameras means you can position them wherever you like. The very wide angle of the camera's view means that for accurate identification of visitors or intruders they need to be placed close to doors or entrances. The motion detection only works up to about 10 metres and at night the built in infra red is useless at more than 6 metres. The cameras are expensive at over £220 each and could easily be stolen from their magnetic mounting brackets. It is recommended that they are mounted 7 feet off the ground, any higher and the video footage is of a visitors head, not much use for identification. I have had the 3 camera system for about 4 weeks and I am still experimenting with the most favourable position for them. I intend to buy 2 more cameras, one for indoors and another outdoors. The cameras are each individually programable so you can have one or more armed as you wish. Overall I think it is a good system although expensive. As I have never owned a CCTV system before I think I was expecting too much. A neighbour of mine has over 30 cameras around his property and all of them have had to be hard wired in so in that respect the Arlo system is head and shoulders above that type of CCTV. Even with hindsight of the limitations I would certainly buy the Arlo Pro 2 again.

Arlo Pro 2 CCTV System
I looked at a good number of different cctv systems that claimed to be wireless but all the ones I looked at needed a power cable connected to the camera and plugged into mains. The Arlo system, although more expensive than many other options, is TOTALLY wireless. The cameras are powered by rechargeable batteries, which last over 2 weeks on best settings. Easy to attach cameras to the walls. One simple bracket which is magnetic and attaches to camera. Fully weatherproof as tested in last weeks crap summer weather. We were on holiday for past 2 weeks in Turkey and were able to watch live footage from our hotel room. Great peace of mind. You can invite up to 3 other people to connect to the system so when you are away, and maybe something happens, they will get a notification of activity. Cameras very responsive. Great clear footage, day and night. Highly recommend this system.

Fundamentally flawed.
After spending several hours researching various systems, I settled on the Arlo. They were to be setup in my parent’s home, which they’re renting, and therefore can’t drill into the walls to mount them. So with this in mind, the plan was to have them sitting inside near windows facing outside onto the driveway and front path. Turns out this is not an option as the cameras are unable to detect motion at all if they’re behind a window. At no point in my research and the reviews I read did I see anyone mention this. I’m sure there’s plenty of people in the same boat who need to use the cameras in this way so it’s disappointing that they lack this ability. For such an expensive system this seems like a fundamental flaw. I’ve now ordered a couple of £25 cameras from Amazon which I’ve used in the past and have worked a charm. Arlo cameras are certainly well made and marketed however for what they do they feel incredibly overpriced and under-featured.

Not as good as the reviews lead you to believe!
These are smart looking devices and certainly have some good features. On the PLUS side: 1. The magnetic mountings are strong and easily fitted. although the cup recess on the camera, where it fits the "ball"of the mounting is centrally placed. Arlo missed a trick ere, as putting it off-centre would have allowed the camera to be mounted to cover a different are if it were placed upside down (there is a 180 degree flip software setting - so need need to stand on your head to view the feed!). 2. It is very well made. 3. The picture is clear and streaming does not glitch - it is continuous, with good light settings, etc. 4. As the Master account holder I can restrict guest access to several features, such as the audio, which is essential. 5. Getting it working with Alexa, so that we could view the screen without needing the phone, was quite straightforward, but only if you get how Alexa and skills work - which many people do not. Downside: 1. The instructions which came with the kit are a COMPLETE joke. Fortunately I am very experienced with this sort of kit, because the instructions literally tell you nothing. 2. The app, which is supposed to lead you through the installation and setup is pretty glitchy. I had to try at least 3 times to identify the hub and cameras. Then it just worked! Getting a feed was also a little fiddly, with the sync buttons seemingly being needed to be pressed a number of times, and not always in the same sequence (hub/camera, or camera/hub - a long hold on the hub, but not, as suggested in the instructions, on the camera!) 3. Setting up other accounts was a problem. eventually we sussed that my account, the first, was a Master Account, and other people could be invited to have access as guests - only one Master account allowed it seems. Here is where a set of instructions would have been useful. It was also not clear from the Arlo website, we found out about this configuration regime by doing a little digging. (An aside: FAR TOO MANY manufacturers design website which do a semi-great job at marketing, but really do not fit the needs of the user. PLEASE, if you are a manufacturer, follow the "wisdom of crowds" philosophy and let multiple interest groups become involved in your website design process) 4. The cameras have stopped working at least once in the first few days, necessitating me visit the house (my mother's) to re-sync the cameras. This is inconvenient, and the process rather haphazard. When changing the position of the wifi router, to try to avoid low wifi signal areas in the house, I needed to re-sync the hub and cameras multiple times, and I never seemed to be able to reliably follow the same sequence of attaching the hub to the router and pressing sync buttons. This is poor. 5. After 4 days of use 2 of the cameras are down to around 70-75% battery, not what I expected. The other is 34%!!! Battery life was quoted as being much better in the reviews, and spare batteries are very expensive. All in all I have mixed feelings at present: the slight flakeyness of the syncing and loss of connection is annoying. Generally the system is well designed and has potential, but feels like it needs some updates (the cameras and hub needed updating at the first installation - so they are on the newest firmware). Would I recommend? Not if you are on a tight budget, this is expensive kit given the problems I have had. UPDATE: Added the 4K Ultra camera. This was not a happy experience. Firstly: it is 4K across the 180 degrees viewing angle. If you option for the narrower angle settings then you cut out the pixels for the area you don't wish to see. So, when I opted for 120 degree viewing angles, the number of pixels was cut to only about two-thirds of the 4K, it looks no better than the Pro 2 camera it replaced. This is not made clear in the literature or any of the reviews. If you are buying this camera for improved quality then don't bother! If you want to view a wider angle then fine. The camera also does not play well with the hub. Although I have turned the microphone off on the app, it simply stays active, no matter what I do. This is annoying and needs addressing by Arlo (Netgear). All of the other cameras work properly - the microphone is off when set to be off! The same sort of issue arises with recording to the SD card. All of the Pro 2 cameras work fine, but the Ultra will not record, even though it is set up properly. In the App Settings the camera does throw up a warning (an "i" in a circle), but following the instructions does not help. I simply would not recommend the Arlo Ultra AT ALL, unless you need a very wide angle camera, as it does not work properly in the microphone and recording departments.

NOT convinced its WORTH buying this toy with poor reliability when many cheaper options available
Background: I was impressed with Arlo when one of my neighbour was able to alert the police and at the same time speak directly to the Thug, who broke into his house, via his camera in the living room, which made thug leave the house leave immediately and later those images helped the police get him.!! Also couple of other neighbours use Ring, and happy with it, as they managed to deter a few unnecessary events too far. I initially thought its quite expensive, but after looking in the specifications and the optional cloud storage costs, i went ahead to buy this product. Good points: Setting up is very easy, there was no need for any wiring / professional help Video clarity is good Night vision is good, ( when placed in right areas{when no bright light in the viewing field} ) Working with the App was easy, in setting the away/home/alarm etc modes FREE cloud storage for 7DAYS, ( when you take the subscription charges of competitors (Ring) for 2-3yrs, the higher price of Arlo will be actually seem cheaper, with total costs for that period) You have an option of storing it locally from Base station with usb port Battery ( not sure if its good or bad point) : Outdoor camera lasted just 45days for first charge and around 60 for second, when you use at its best setting ( the whole reason of buying this is for its 1080hd quality ), while my other camera which i set at lower setting is still going without any recharge and had 25% left, Bad points: Customer service help line is free only for the first 90 days!! or else you have use the online 'web chat'!!, i had to get in touch with them 4 times already, for following reasons 1) the notifications stopped working, (missed out on telling the parcel guy to leave a so and so place), more important that i would have missed a burglar!!, this happened multiple times, I can't see how to rely on a security system that works like this!, it works when you realise the status and then RESET the whole LOT,....had to do this on multiple occasions. 2)there was significant delay with movement at door and notification ( when it worked), that got resolved with lot of time spent with online chat and advice to update firmware 3)this is more important for me, is that the VOLUME from the camera is POOR, LOW VOLUME I was asked to resend the item at my own cost for them to review and replace!! Overall, main issues are the audio quality is too poor ( while set to MAX in the settings), that unless someone comes VERY close to it, they can't hear with the outdoor/road noice, and when they are soo close there is nothing stopping them to walk away with a 150-200 pounds camera mounted on a magnet!!, while it works well / serves the purpose when the camera is indoors, with decent volume as its a bit more quite. or this might not be a problem if you are living in relatively quite area / remote area or just for indoor purposes. (PS: I have not used this system with the camera connected to continuous power supply, the outcome may be different with timing of recording and potential time delays )

One Happy Customer
The Arlo Pro 2 provides everything I had hoped for. I was able to install the cameras in minutes. Out of the box the camera batteries were fully charged. The magnetic brackets only needed one screw to hold the fitment securely although I did use my own screws as the plugs and screws in the box were very small. They may have worked but I did not want to take the chance. Installation notes were in the box but the user manual is online as they mostly are these days. I did have a panic when power plug was for US customers until I found the extra box with European and UK adapters. The video captured is excellent quality night and day but thankfully only Bumble Bees and a friendly Blue Tit has been 'caught' on camera. Only one weeks usage but currently very happy.

Great kit - impressed so far.
Bought to replace a 4yo POE system. Pro2's 1080p is good quality and the night vision is pretty good, particularly under a security floodlight which gives colour - see photo. Had 3 cameras linked and running in 15 minutes. Very easy to use app (Android - not tried on IOS) and I like the function to ba able to set the base station siren off from the app (it is loud!). 2-way audio is pretty reasonable, camera microphones are sensitive, though speaker on camera could be louder. Batteries are about 15% down in a week, which I think is reasonable. Sensors aren't overly sensitive and only seem to trigger by people or vehicles - local foxes and squirrels don't set off an alert. Overall I'm happy with my purchase!
