Overall, well-designed, premium urban-style backpack. There is plenty to like but also some things that could be improved: What I like: • Thick premium materials - so much better than the eBags Professional • Black • Padded • Luggage pass through • No waist belt (I am not going hiking) • Laptop pocket that stops short of the bottom of the bag • Multiple smaller pockets • Clips to stop the extra webbing flapping around • Size is right for me at 24L (there are some comments on the Timbuk2 website that this backpack isn't 24L. I fully loaded my Osprey Stratos 24 and was able to fit all the same gear into this backpack). Could be improved: • Water bottle holder should be able to fold away when not in use • Interior pockets need color - hard to find small items in low light (black on black on black) • I can't believe I am saying this but the laptop pocket has too much padding - it takes away from interior volume. Other laptop bags I have used in the past have less padding and I've never had any damage to my laptop. • More interior pockets for different sized items. I used a packing cube for items once all the pocket were full • For some reason the exterior compression straps cover the reflective sections. Great job to have compression straps and reflective sections. But why cover them up? • Ergonomic or contoured shoulder straps. The Osprey pack I mention above is an excellent example of how to make shoulder straps fit to a human body. • With the addition of the luggage pass-through, Timbuk2 is clearly targeting airport travelers, but if so, there are a few changes to really make this useful: ○ Needs a side handle ○ Needs a hidden passport pocket on the exterior ○ Needs ability to add a lock to the zipper

So after being a Dakine backpack user for about 10 years, I finally made the switch to another company. Dakine's material feels a lot cheaper than the backpack I used to use and decided to part ways and go with Timbuk 2's Authority DLX backpack. There isnt a ton of videos on it but boy am I sure glad I went with this one. Its a very professional backpack with premium feeling materials and not too large to make it look like its a bulging ruck sack. The water bottle holder is a bit snug but can stretch if you really want to fit something larger than a 24 oz bottle in there. Also having two would have been nice instead of just one. Overall I would give this bag a 9.0/10 and would definitely recommend to another person who wants a slim and sleek backpack to carry his laptop, some notebooks and folders to and from work. Also shout out to Zappos for the quick shipping! Got here a day earlier than estimated.

Overall, the backpack is great. The padding is generous, the zippers are smooth and have shielding which help prevent liquids from getting into the bag, the handle is sturdy, and the pass-through straps are convenient and do not get in the way when not in use. I use this as my school backpack, and there is plenty of space for my notebooks and my laptop. The two things that bother me are that the right strap squeaks when moving (I'm not sure what is making the noise) and the zipper pulls of the main compartment fall into the second compartment if its open, which results in the zipper pulls getting caught.

This bag is really well designed and is made of a quality/sturdy material. Unfortunately it is just too small (in volume) to be practical for everyday use. If you're just looking for a bag to carry your laptop and maybe a few books/notebooks, this bag is great. But for the rest of us, whether you're a student or a commuter, the depth is too shallow to be really useful. I really wanted to like this bag because of way it is made, but I ended up returning it. Hey Timbuk2, if you're reading this review, please create another version of this bag with a deeper depth (more volume), while keeping the same width/height and material/design. Another small gripe: I noticed the shoulder straps (left one, especially) really dug in to my trapezius (yes I looked that up) muscle, which I didn't like.
