Transformers Prime - Season 1 Part 1 (Darkness Rising) [DVD]

I will preface my customer review by putting at ease anyone's minds regarding whether or not to buy this *absolute gem* of a Blu-Ray disc-set collection; concerned they may be disappointed to learn it does not work on their UK/British Blu-Ray players. THIS BLU-RAY DISC SET *ABSOLUTELY,* *DEFINITELY* AND 100%* WORKS ON *ALL* UK/BRITISH BLU-RAY PLAYERS OF REGION B/2! When I first discovered this little beauty on Amazon.co.uk, at first, I really thought I was misreading the product details that it works on UK Blu-Ray players, as USA is the only known place the "Transformers Prime" cartoon series can be purchased on a Blu-Ray release. Sadly, as I, myself, do not presently own a multi-region Blu-Ray player, I was only able to buy this on a DVD release on import from USA. However, seeing that the description appeared to be certain that it does, indeed, work on UK Blu-Ray players, I chose to take a risk and made my purchase not only of this set, but also for seasons 2 and 3. Admittedly, until I purchased this item, I didn't know Australia and UK had the same Blu-Ray region codes. So, not only have I gained a beautiful Blu-Ray disc set, but also greater wisdom. Moving onto the product.... Upon receiving my purchase in the mail this morning, I was hesitant to feel excited, concerned I'd slip it into the disc tray, only to be met with a message stating the disc could not be played in my region. But, to my *greatest* delight, however, the disc *absolutely does* work and *oh, boy,* does it go *beyond* just working! Compared to the DVD release and perhaps even surpassing the definition of TV quality, the graphics, animation, detail and colours on this Blu-Ray release of "Transformers Prime" are just *absolutely stunning, captivating and breathtaking!* There really are no words powerful enough to express just how *extremely beautiful* the picture and sound quality is. The detail is sharp, yet clear and the colours are so vibrant, smooth and beautiful! This is something that *cannot* be described well enough. You just have to *see* it with your own eyes to believe it. It's so very high definition, it's almost like they could just literally come right out of the screen. Moving on to the special features....I'll admit, I haven't watched all the discs yet, so am unsure just how many there are. However, in comparison to the American DVD release, there are *a lot* of extra special features on the Blu-Ray releases. While on the DVD release, only a rare few episodes have audio commentary to them, on this Blu-Ray release, *almost every single episode* has an audio commentary to listen to and enjoy. Additionally, on this Blu-Ray release, you get the option of watching the making of the featurette on how the shows were voiced and created. There are also TV previews of Season 2, character designs and toys available to purchase, etc. To conclude my review; if you're worried about buying this Blu-Ray release for fear that you'll be disappointed to discover it does not work on your UK Blu-Ray Player, *fear not!* I can personally guarantee that this Blu-Ray release of "Transformers Prime," *absolutely does* work on *all* region B/2 Blu-Ray players in UK. And, as this is such a heavily rare find, I *strongly* urge anyone considering buying this *not* to wait! There's no telling how long this release will be available for before it goes out of production and while it may be expensive to purchase, it truly is worth its weight in gold! DON'T WAIT! BUY THIS NOW WHILE YOU STILL HAVE THE CHANCE!

I own pretty much every DVD there is so far of the Transformers Prime series, and love every minute of it. It's also a winner with kids! It has far more "dark" themes than the likes of Rescue Bots or Generation 1, but that hasn't stopped my friends 9 year old son enjoying this series! If anything, he loves this show more than any other he's seen. I would still recommend a parent watch any of the Prime series should there be children below the age of 9 viewing it, not exactly for the themes of peril and robot violence, but more so to help them understand what's going on better; the show talks in a far more mature tone, and some plot-points have been difficult for my friends son to understand without me being there to explain it all to him in a way that he understands. So it's a great series, if a bit complicated and dark for young children; this show is definitely better suited to the more mature fans of the franchise. If in doubt that your little one can view this series comfortably, why not try Rescue Bots instead?

What can I say about this? I frigging love this. This is how the films should be done. Not only does this look visually stunning but it has all the special features like character designs, behind the scenes and more. I highly recommend this to anyone had either has a blu-ray play, ps3 or a ps4. I was really surprised with how fast this turned up and the package was in excellent condition.

A great product for all TF fans, animation is fab and a good mix of the old and new! With Peter Cullen and Frank Walker as the voices of Optimus Prime and Megatron, where can you go wrong! Really enjoy watching it and I hope to add the other episodes to my collection SOON!!!

The DVD arrived one day before schedule which obviously, I was more than happy about. Discs are new as stated and all work perfectly. The quality is Blu-Ray and the detail is outstanding. If you are truly a Transformers fan, then this is the DVD for you and I guarantee, children will love it!

Must have DVD.. Please check the region by fire you buy. It's so rare to find UK edition.. Worth the money and had to buy a dvd specifically for this. New series out March 12 or 14 check local listing. Oh the theme song is catching and it's not on iTunes
