Best Chip Reader
Works great and pairs with Leadconnector which is huge for my company since we try to keep all our crm, client management, and POS in the same place. Has great connectivity and the packaging was reminiscent of Apple’s iPhone boxes, great quality overall!

Stopped working after 2 months
Worked great at first but suddenly stopped working after 2 months. It wouldn't pair with any device. Took a charge, blinkrd all the correct lights but wouldn't pair. I tried Square help and none of the fixes worked. Used a search engine to finally find a fix. If this happens to you, press and hold the power button until all lights go off, about 20 seconds. Wait a minute and turn it back on. Mine was able to pair with my phone again, it did an update and started working again. Overall it works great most of the time, but failing mid market like that is scary.

Device is not a tap-to- pay. It will read ANY credit card in near proximity including your own!
WARNING! This is not a "tap to pay" quote device. It works on bluetooth so it can read cards in the vicinity that are not touched to the device. I did an art show and lost more than $700 worth of items because the device was scanning MY OWN credit card deep in a shoulder purse hanging on my left side while I held the device in my right hand. It wasn't until the 4th sale that I realized it was scanning my own card. instead of the customer's card who was holding it up their card to the device. It was scanning mine before they touched the pad. I shared with the other artists and found many had had the exact same experience. One artist lost several sales last year in same manner and one person lost an entire weekend's show sales because EVERY charge was charged to her own credit card in her pocket and not to the customer's card that held it up. It is NOT tap to pay it will read any card in the vicinity if you're in the checkout mode. I contacted customer service for Square online and on the phone and received no help whatsoever. This was three months ago. They absolutely know that it is a habitual problem with the device and they have done nothing to correct it to my knowledge. Customer service said they would have a higher level of manager contact me and of course it never happened. They did not even offer to refund their credit card fees. So in addition to purchasing my own paintings I had to pay 7% each for the sale and return fees. They do not care. They 100% know this is a very common problem and they 100% do not do anything about it and they 100% don't give a damn about their customers. Be very very careful if you use this that you are getting the proper credit card scan and that the card is reading the customer's desired card and not a different one in their wallet or purse. And protect your own cards with RFID sleeves. I cannot believe there is not a class action suit over this Like others Square has been charged with. I will be the first person to sign up. When speaking to customer service they reviewed the bill and they clearly saw and ADMITTED that my own product was charged to my own card. They won't respond.
