Whether or not you’re an RLJ fan when you begin this book will make no difference, it’s just a great, compelling read, period. But I can promise that you will have become a fan for life by the time you finish it. Review: For someone who is as 'off the wall' as her music is, I was hesitant to sample her writing skills. But the cover looked like it held a few adventures and sure enough she grabs you straight away, and you jump in for the ride with some crazy people in those crazy times in the jazzed out world that she inhabits amongst those smoky bars and wailing saxes of the 70s, 80's and 90's. Then you get out the CD's and let her sing once more. And you realise, yes indeed, she did have it there for a while. Fast and ferocious.

What an entertaining read. I don't care if you own all of her albums or one album this book is a great read. I love her writing style, the words flow like lyrics from one of her songs. Ms. Jones has lived a fascinating life and has never been afraid to take chances, personally or professionally. I loved this book and I'll be back for a reread eventually.

This is an amazing account of the life and times of Rickie Lee Jones. It's candid, it's funny, heartbreaking, shocking, and wonderfully read by the Duchess of Cool herself. Just get it. I would go with audio, she's a great narrator. I also got it on Kindle for the odd word I couldn't understand or just the bits I wanted to look at again. Fantastic, it's my far the best book I've read for absolutely ages, and I read a lot.

Poetic and moving meditation on family, fame and love, Sometimes a little pretentious, but unfailingly entertaining and focused. Painfully honest But not draggy. A high water mark for music autobiographies. Recommended.
