In this spectacular series, Professor Cox offers an original new perspective on human life: the story of a group of apes that evolved to leave their home planet and step out into the universe. Humans are curious creatures. Of all the species on Earth, we alone ask questions. This series tackles the greatest questions we've ever asked. Where are we in the universe? Why are we here? How did the human brain arise and why did we become consciousness? Will our search for alien life be successful or are we all alone? And what is our future? In search of answers, Brian sets off across the globe collecting clues from the people that he encounters and linking them to the latest scientific thinking on each question. Combining beautiful location photography, imaginative CGI and his own magical storytelling Brian presents a new understanding of the ultimate wonder of the universe - us. Review: Informative and Inspirational - This is a captivating DVD series that delves into the deepest questions about humanity's place in the cosmos. With his infectious passion for science, Cox guides viewers through an awe-inspiring journey, exploring topics ranging from the origins of life to the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. Through stunning visuals and thought-provoking commentary, he inspires viewers to contemplate our place in the universe and the profound impact of our existence. Whether you're a science enthusiast or simply curious about the wonders of the cosmos, this DVD is sure to leave you feeling informed, inspired, and awestruck. Review: which might be less exciting if filmed in a dull lecture theatre - Another enjoyable series from Professor Cox. I couldn't wait to watch each episode. His global travels add art and humanity to the science, which might be less exciting if filmed in a dull lecture theatre. I particularly enjoyed watching the feathers and ball fall side by side in a vacuum chamber. Awesome and hard to believe until you see it with your own eyes. I would have preferred a more in-depth look at some of the subjects covered e.g. the theories on what preceded the big bang, but as these are speculative rather than scientifically proven and Professor Cox sticks to the science, his brief coverage can be understood. I also disagree with his concluding remarks, which take a swipe at spirituality (he refers to the darkness of superstition). Professor Cox mentions the possibility that multiple universes could exist, perhaps with very different physical laws to our own. Perhaps such universes interact with our own in ways that we do not yet understand. Mankind has made incredible advances in understanding the nature of our own universe, particularly in my lifetime, but there is still scope to wonder what lies beyond the visible and scientifically proven.

Brilliant and Educational
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this documentary. It is a brilliant lesson in science, a subject that has only recently caught my attention now that I have retired. I will have to watch it a few times to fully grasp what is being presented. The photography is excellent with the sunset and sunrise scenes so captivating, making the documentary entertaining too! Highly recommended.

a great series by professor brian cox
a great series by professor brian cox. he has the ability to explain complex things in a way that is accessible to non-scientists. a very thought-provoking look at the human world. it raises the unknowable questions like why are we here, and poses scientific lines of thinking that are always intriguing. here is a scientist who has wide knowledge of physics, and knows how to present it in a non-alarming way. amazing.....

Stunning
Professor Brian Cox does it again with another exemplary, stunningly photographed five part series about the Human Race, our place in the Cosmos, and our possible future. Great Narration, some complex scientific theories clearly explained in layman's terms, and the final episode about the future contains tragic moments such as the extremely recent Virgin Galactic spacecraft crash, but ends on an optimistic note for the future. Very, very highly recommended, a definite five star must buy. Can't wait for his next series.

Entertaining Science!
Bought this item for my girlfriend for Christmas as she often complains she doesn't really understand science, space etc. I had previously seen Brian Cox on the TV and was impressed with the way he can cover complex issues in an understandable way without seeming patronising. We have sat glued to this show and learnt so much. His presentation manner is spot on and very entertaining. It's not just about space, although a lot of it ties back to that, he covers all sorts of issues regarding genetics, the origin of life etc.
