Organic Pumpkin Pie Spice

Excellent spice quality and delicious for pumpkin pie and other pumpkin spice recipes.

Made a purchase of organic pumpkin pie spice and found it was made with Vietnamese cinnamon. Doing a more thorough search, I found Pinch. It was more than I wanted to pay, but decided a great pumpkin pie spice is worth it. My 3 adult daughters and I go through a lot during the holidays Oct.1-Dec 31, and I was hoping to surprise them with the best. I anxiously waited to my Pinch spice. When it arrived, I was ready for a tasty pumpkin pie spiced coffee. Well, that didn’t happen.... the bag smelled more like a weird black pepper combination. There was no debt of cinnamon! I was disappointed but tried it anyway. The coffee went down the drain. Over the next few days, I’d open the bag and give it a whiff hoping I’d find a more familiar smell. I even shook the bag up thinking the spices had settled. Then I researched each ingredient. I learned that sometimes cinnamon and mace, when combined, can smell like black pepper. Perhaps that explains what I smell. Maybe Pinch just uses too much mace for my taste and olfactory glands. Whatever the reason, this bag with go unused. I am disappointed. Please, if I am wrong about believing pumpkin pie spice should have a more cinnamon smell than black pepper, let me know.
