Fun little machine = Happy Brewer
After having used this grinder for a little while I am very very happy with it. I did alot of research before choosing a grinder and this product seemed very well reviewed so I decided to go with it. It is compact and stylish-looking on the counter-top and smaller than I was expecting. Very easy to use with just 2 dials to play with. It took a while to find the right setting for what I wanted (espresso for a gaggia classic) and the finest settings where just *too* fine, but most of the fun is in the experimentation right? I would say this grinder is best for finer grind levels so if that is what you use most it's the one to go for. But it also grinds coarsely too, so suitable for all brewing methods. Once I found the right setting for me, i marked it with a silver pen on the dial so I could find it again quickly. The cup selector dial is puzzling as surely you need different amounts for different brewing methods, and how big is a cup anyway? Mostly I ignored the cup numbers and had some fun experimenting to find the level right for me. Some others have said that it is very noisy but I haven't found this to be the case at all. In fact it is relatively quiet considering that it is turning hard coffee beans into smooth powder in mere seconds! But of course everybody is different. Others have also mentioned that the power button is quite flimsy and liable to break. While I can see that it isnt the strongest part of the machine, if you treat it with care then it should certainly last. Having spent £80 on a piece of kitchen equipment I am very careful with it and so far it's worked perfectly. The best feature I think is the consistency of the grind it produces, not uneven like blade grinders, as a result the end taste is next level! I haven't found a problem with static or mess as others have, maybe I'm not as fussy, but I'm so impressed with the performance of the machine I think I've made the right choice. The only slightly annoying thing was that the machine came with an EU plug which required an adaptor (luckily I had one), despite checking (i thought) that it was despatched from the UK. I'm happy to use it that way, as its only mildly inconvenient, but just something to watch out for. Overall I've found that the more research you do into coffee, the more contradictory the advice becomes, with one person swearing by a method that the next person finds sacrilege. The best way is to find the way that works for YOU. Good Luck!

Maybe this will be the kiss of death but…….
I bought this grinder in April 2016 and it has been in almost daily use since then. Maybe this will be the kiss of death but I have to tell you that it has given excellent service throughout this time. I have two coffee machines - a Gaggia Classic espresso machine and a Morphy Richards filter coffee maker - and I find that this grinder is perfectly capable of grinding coffee suitable for each machine. If I set the grind to the machine's finest setting it is sometimes too fine for the Gaggia, depending I think on the beans I use; the filter coffee maker is not so fussy, though I find the coarsest settings allow the water to pass too quickly for my taste, as I like a strong flavoured drink. There is a bit of an issue with the static in the ground coffee box whereby some coffee grounds jump out over the work surface but nothing that a damp cloth can't deal with. I used to clean the burrs and the insides on a regular basis but I've become rather lazy of late, although the machine doesn't seem to mind and continues to perform well. One thing I must say is that when you change the grind coarseness setting when there are beans in the hopper, always turn on the machine before gently turning the lever to the required setting. Personally, I have never had an issue with the on/off button not working except when the hopper lid or the ground coffee-container lid has not been pushed on properly. Once you use a coffee grinder and create freshly ground coffee I don't think you'll want to use pre-ground ever again; I find that even a freshly opened bag of ground coffee tastes stale by comparison. So there we have it - a satisfied customer! B 3/07/24. Since my review above, the top burr wore out; I replaced it, which was easy enough and only cost about £8 or so. It was better for a while but the grind became very inconsistent, resulting in an inconsistent coffee grind with a lot of sludge in the bottom of the cup. As I can see no way of exchanging the bottom burr, I’ve called it a day and replaced it with a somewhat more expensive machine: a Baratza Encore ESP, which has 20 espresso settings and 20 more for progressively coarser grinds. No sludge any more and lovely espressos and cafetières!

Consigliatissimo!
