Review: Most amazing pilot and show I've seen since NYPD Blue, and this is better! - I haven't been blown away by a show like this since NYPD Blue all those years ago in the early years of the nineties. The Pilot alone blew me away and the rest of the episodes never let me down. The highest compliment I can pay this right now is that it is better than NYPD Blue by a mile. I have to say firstly, I do not watch tv, I don't have cable or satiellite or anything like that. I quit watching tv when terrestrial went digital. After my only two favourite shows back then through the nineties finished, it had nothing for me anymore, and those two shows were NYPD Blue, the Pilot of which blew me away and I recorded it every week (video then of course) up until about season 8, when I lost interest and it finished on Channel 4, and the other show was The X-Files. NYPD Blue however was everything then that I wanted in a show. I felt an amazing sense of anticipation for each season, I dreampt about it and it basically got right in my head and I was proud to be a fan. It had great drama, nudity, and it really was something I could get right into. I didn't know how long it went on for, because the show left Channel 4 and anyway, I just lost interest and that was it, so I only was able to catch up with it years later in 2014, nearly ten years after it finished, when it was released on dvd. I had and watched it through seven times. Unfortunately the last two seasons, 11 and 12 let me down in a big way and I think it went on too long. Maybe I had been looking for something to enjoy which was better. Of course, not watching tv all this time, I have been totally unaware and ignorant I suppose of how much the standards have changed and what tv shows have in them. The stakes are obviously much higher now and they are much stronger in terms of nudity, violence and language. Again, I was not aware of this. Then I saw some sexy clips of this show called Banshee, I got more intrigued and so I read about it online. I had my doubts, because it sounded much like something I had seen previous called Orphan Black, which had a similar plot, but I personally didn't like, but I risked getting a copy of this Banshee anyway, obeying my instincts kind of thing. It turned out to be my best purchase in a long time. The plot centres on a master thief recently released from prison who enters a small Pennsylvanian Amish town called Banshee, and is there too to possibly rekindle old passions with his lost love who he did time for and let escape. He also meets the new sheriff, Lucas Hood, who is due to be sworn in in a few days and two guys enter. The confrontation ends in violence and the criminal tries to help but the sheriff is murdered by the guys and the criminal, who also kills them, and due to other circumstances is forced to assume the sheriff's identity. He actually turns out to do a very good job. As far as I'm concerned he was Lucas Hood. He brings some tough justice to the town and doesn't bother about breaking the rules when need be. That is all I need to say about the basic plot of the show, because there is far more to it than that. I liked every character in it, I like the sheriff a lot, (not the real sheriff or not!) and even the so called villians had their moments and endearing qualities. The show ceased production in 2016 and it ran from 2012, which I think says a lot. At the very least it is a modern show and has everything I love. I wouldn't mind meeting the stars of it to be honest, thank them and get their autographs! They're superstars to me now. This show basically got into my head just like NYPD Blue did back then. I dreampt about it, I anticipated what the next episodes, or even next seasons would be like, even if I was able to watch them instantly when I wanted to on blu ray, (I have all four seasons in a blu ray pack) and it never let me down. NYPD Blue did. Banshee has now allowed me to let go of all of my NY Blue seasons and concentrate on this, because I found it so satisfying and gripping from the start. Simply put, Banshee is better than NYPD Blue and it made it look tame. It kicked it up the backside and let me say goodbye. This is my star show now and I can see myself enjoying it even after many views. There are several bonus features on the blu ray packs too, featuring commentaries and other things, fight scene behind the scenes and more and I would like to say a big thank you to the creators of Banshee, Jonathon Tropper and David Schickler for coming up with something so great. Alan Ball exec produced, but these guys wrote the pilot and many other episodes and being a writer myself, I am always on the writer's side. Well done guys and thanks for such a gripping, fantastic show. Frankly, the best thing I have seen in a long time. I may not watch tv, but thank heavens I discovered this. One thing I am surprised about is that it is not a phenomenon. Mayb there is so much stuff out there that it is difficult to pin point target audiences and promote it that much. However, to any action or crime thriller fans out there, I say this to you, you could do a lot worse than buy this show, all seasons, you will not be disappointed. It's gripping, has great stories and it is highly entertaining. Good town ... Bad blood ... Gripping show ... discover for yourself Review: Great tv series now on blu ray - We have already got this box set of Blu-Ray's and we have really enjoyed this program. A close friend has just upgraded to a new blu ray player and didnt have any blu ray discs so we have purchased this box set as a present for him, we know he is going to love these blu rays just as much as we have. The story has lots of twists and turns lots of adult themes but also lots of suspense. Well worth a watch.

Everyone Town Needs A Hood
If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing the Banshee series, seen clips on social networks, or heard people use a cluster of quotes from it's character's, then you're missing out. Banshee is fresh, unique - though I had the sense that it was a little like High Plains Drifter - a classic that will never grow old. I bought the box set series for the simple fact it keeps all the discs together and it's in my collection for times when I want to look back at the greats. Its definitely one for your Weekend Film List. Starring Anthony Star from The Boys - which changes my opinion of him straight away - the series will grow on anyone who thrives for action, passion, betrayal and lots of killing.

well pleased with it
This is not The Sopranos or Dexter, but there is plenty of story to each episode, lots of action (at least one big fight), and the whole things moves quickly. B-list stars but they do okay, and it never fails to entertain. And unlike so many cheaper TV series, it is not embarrassingly sentimental. Overall, well pleased with it.

Brilliant series
Brilliant series, loads of action.

Addictive
This is one of the edgiest, brilliantly produced and acted series available. Along with Braquo, Breaking Bad, Peaky Blinders, The Dragon Trilogy, this is incredibly good entertainment. Unpredictable, violent, but always contextual and justifiable within the parameters of the characters' motivations and personalities. Sexy--lots of skin but never irrelevant or vulgar or for cheap thrills. Terrific, believeable dialogue, excellent acting across the board.. I seriously doubt if this show could be made in today's PC charged atmosphere. Major kudos to the creators and producers and actors for making a highly entertainting series.

Intense Drama & Suspense mostly. Some GREAT! fight scenes. NOT! a bloody/guts type movie. Filmed on LOCATION! Great acting. The very unique style, idea, of the writing plots, make this the best movie series i've seen in yrs! Box & disc array very sturdy, well packaged, on time. All (38) episodes, like it says. Mostly suspenseful with a uniquely different style. Very different, but no fooling around. It gets real serious. Seen it almost (3) times. Interesting scenarios, how this Sheriff pulls thing off. They clean Hse. eventually. Note: In Spec.Features, touching moment when the crew, & actors say goodbye to each other. (Special)
