DMT A-PROKIT Aligner Prokit Diamond Sharpener - Multi-Colour

I purchased the aligner to use whilst in Zambia - normally uses a Lansky. I used it to sharpen my knife with a CPM S30V blade. Struggled a bit to get the correct angle and stroke but in the end I got the knife much sharper than with the Lansky and in about half the time. The knife still had an edge so I only used the fine stone. The DMT stones seems to be more aggressive and with the fine stone achieved a smooth edge. I saw some reviews people were saying the knife looses the edge quicker I could not verify that, as a matter of fact in my case the edge retention was similar or maybe even better than the with the Lansky but the knife was definitely sharper. Would however preferred the blade holder and to be made out of a more robust material. The angle adjusters have more control on the blade angles although the adjusters appear to be flimsy. Overall I am very satisfied with the product and it works well.

Works well and sharpens knives. I've used it to restore the edge on a couple of damaged blades. Slightly different angles if used dual sided.

I have the Aligner Deluxe Kit for about 2 weeks now. I have used it for several knives with different hardness (the hardest is S30v steel)and it makes the all razor sharp!! The only slight drawback it has is that the angel is not quite the same on both sides. This is by far the best sharpener I have ever owned and is very price-worthy!

I was a bit skeptical about this type of sharpener because I have always sharpened my pocket knives on a whetstone. Am I glad I decided to buy the DMT Aligner Prokit. It sharpens so much quicker than my whetstone kit. I had some old Kitchen knives that were very dull but this sharpener brought them back to sharper than new. My newer set of Kitchen knives were also sharper than new. Especially after using my Beavercraft strop which is also a great product. Once you figure out the best position or on longer knives positions and find the proper angle it is very easy to get a...Not going to use the old cliche "Sharp as a razor"...but as sharp as a kitchen knife should be to hold an edge. It also makes it easy to re-profile a knife. I put a sharper angle on an old meat cleaver and now use it to dice vegetables so i can scoop them off the cutting board to put in pan/bowl. Highly recommended for people that haven't sharpened knives before.

I make knives. I am a knife addict I collect, create and appreciate all things sharp. I have the requirement that for me to consider a knife sharp it need to be able to shave arm hair. I own bench stones, lansky and gatco angle kits. I have worn out 2 gatcos due to use. I can honestly say I was pleasantly suprised when my dmt kit arrived and I say how much better the fundamental design was than both of the other kits of own. The most surprising thing was how much quicker it sharpens and how much sharper it got my knives. I ordered the extra coarse and extra fine stones as well and I can honestly say the way that shavings fell off one of the knives I choose to change the angle significantly on was so much quicker than even the extra extra coarse stone in my professional Gatco kit. Every single part of this kit was superior than either of my other angle kits. The guide rod assembley looks much less likely to have the dreaded wearing slipping and spinning issues of the lansky and gatco. The stones seem to be built in such a way that the shouldn't groove out like the stones in my gatco. And I can honestly say that the diamonds work so much better than the other stones as far as time and efficiency. This kit easily brought my worst looking Leatherman up to shaving standard in less than 10 minute's sharpening. I sharpened this with my gatco 3 days ago and no matter what I did I could not get it to shave hair. I was quite suprised to find that after the green fine stone it already shaved hair even before I used the extra extra fine. The diamond that they provided me with to sharpen serrated knives is so vastly superior to the one in my professional Gatco it's not even funny. The various sizing on the rod let's you easily select the needed thickness for each different serration sizing. Let me be very clear. I love everything to do with knives and this kit just became my favorite sharpening system. I can honestly say that due to how quickly these stones do their work I will likely use these more than my large bench water stones of much higher cost... I sharpened 6 knives today after I opened this up from the mail package and even the most damaged and crappy cheap knife I found in my roommates bed room was able to shave hair. And trust me when I say that knife was junk. It even carried the made in China brand name.. You won't be sorry if you buy this knife sharpening system. One other thing all the other stones involve water or oil. And this thing worked like a charm without a mess. Well some metal shavings but it sure beats the black paste that staines your hands pants and couch if you choose to sharpen inside.
