Purchased to replace Shock Doctor 875 that triggered an allergy. FIrst attempt, the brace was not tight enough to offer support, so consider ordering a size down especially if your measurement put you near the line between two sizes. Returned it and tried the next size down. Fits much better. The plastic splint/hinge units are lightweight, low-profile, and pretty strong. The material is some kind of non-neoprene elasticized fabric. It is very comfortable and breathable and not super-restrictive. The downside is that it's support is somewhat lacking, at least when compared to the Shock Doctor model at less than 1/3rd the price. It's enough for running or basketball or soccer maybe, but for my personal use (judo, grappling), I felt a heck of lot safer in the Shock Doctor (even though I was itching for 4 days afterwards). I don't dislike it. I just dislike that I paid so much for it, when it doesn't perform any better than a good moderately-priced brace. Maybe it's like the Louis Vuitton of knee braces, and the label will impress people??? Anyway, if you are neoprene/synthetic rubber allergic and NEED a hinged brace, this is your best bet.

I have had problems with my knees for years. After having a knee replacement, I developed horrible pain after tripping and twisting my "new knee" and it was not getting better. My Orthopod prescribed a Bauerfeind knee brace and my knee was back to pain free after wearing the brace only three days. Recently, I injured my non-surgical knee and was barely able to walk, so I ordered another brace for that knee. When wearing the brace I have no knee pain and my knee is getting better every day.

This is the best brace I’ve ever had, also Amazon is by far the best online retailer *****

Fabric is very nice, I already owned the lighter version Bauerfeind - GenuTrain - Knee Support and wanted something a little more heavy duty with lateral support/stabilazor. - The problem with the side supports is that they prevent the brace form hugging the sides of the knee (the supports are straight and the sides of the knee not so much). So I ended up using first the regular Sport Compression Knee Support (which is a great product on its own) to hug the knee, then i put on the Genu Train S. - Other issues are with the manufacturing/construction: * is that within wearing the GenuTrain S about 8 time it ripped (see picture) * there should also be more padding (actually there is none) at the termination point of the lateral supports, the "bars" tend to dig-in the leg

Great support, doesn't get hot, and easy to adjust. Not the cheapest, but the best. Glad my doctor recommended this for my strained MCL.
