Undoubtably the best to use and most secure key safe
This is definitely the best key safe: it is easy to use even in low light conditions, weatherproof, will accommodate several door keys of all standard types on an internal hook (crucial so keys don't fall out on opening/closing key safe). The door is hinged so it's not fiddly to open or close, and the door/keypad can't be lost. It is extremely sturdy without being an eyesore - it can be placed in plain view of the relevant door, no one is going to remove this or break it open without industrial tools! It comes highly recommended by professionals who use key safes for the elderly and infirm, although in our case the prime users are errant offspring who forget keys.... The code is easily set using the plastic tool set unobtrusively inside; most people use 4 digits but it can be more or less. The order of digits doesn't matter, but there are still far too many possible combinations for this to be a security issue. Never ever use a screwdriver to set the code or lose a record of the code, or it will be a permanent and unusable wall ornament! Fitting is for a practiced DIYer or a professional. Invest in a high quality 5mm masonry drill bit of sufficient length to accommodate the masonry screws (go directly into brick, does NOT use wall-plugs) Holes have to be drilled precisely (photocopy the template unhelpfully printed on the rear of the instructions), drill pilot holes with a small bit first & make sure the template is the right way up! Even with a good heavy drill with hammer action the whole process takes a couple of hours in order to read and fully understand the instructions, assemble all the kit, ensure correct placement, fit the key safe, set the code and instruct the users. Although the unit is compact it is heavy so a helper is required. It may well break out of standard amazon packaging because it is heavy, but the box is secure and everything is packed neatly within the uncoded and unlocked key safe on arrival.

The only keysafe worth considering!
There seem to be just two contenders on the market: this, or the much cheaper MasterLock. The latter can be picked with 10 mins' research on the internet, a feeler gauge, and five minutes' effort. Mine also had a habit of resetting itself to a random combination - so I suppose it was handy that it could be picked. Anyhow, the obvious security implications led me to upgrade to this, which is Police Approved. I have to say that I'm very, very impressed; everything about it smells of security. It's very heavy duty, and it comes supplied with security masonry screws that bite straight into the brick - no PlasPlugs (since they can be levered off the wall with a crowbar). Operation is simple; the buttons are much clearer than the small numbers on the MasterLock combination. The lock is simple and solid and easy to operate, and it can't be forced - if the combination is wrong, it simply turns around without opening the lock. Some reviewers have expressed reservations that you can put the numbers in in any order, which reduces the number of combinations. True; but there are twelve buttons (labelled 0-9 and A,B), and you can decide for each one whether you want it pressed or not in your combination - you aren't restricted to four digits. That means that, whereas a four-digit combination lock has 10,000 possibilities, this one has 4095; not quite as many, but still an awful lot for a potential burglar to work through. (Yes, the mathematically inclined may point out that there should be 4096 combinations; but one of those is to have no buttons pressed, which isn't at all secure since it would open as soon as the "clear" button is pressed.) You can buy this key safe at various prices from about £50 to £120. At £50, it's well worth it - very cheap insurance, and far more secure than the MasterLock. One very minor niggle: it needs a torx-head driver for the screws. I bought a whole set of these at Aldi for £4, so it wasn't a big deal; they are occasionally useful for other things. I don't know why they couldn't have used an Allen head though, or else included a spanner as Ikea does. Overall - brilliant. I don't normally bother to leave reviews, but this device deserves it.

Just The Best In Class
There are a few (key safe, key box) styles and quality out there. I use this model for ease of use, ease of installation, build quality and price. This uses a push-button system rather than cogs to enter the correct combination. The push-buttons are a lot easier to use than cogs especially if your hands are cold and the light is failing (winter months). I have installed three of these and have had no issue with water (rain) getting in. The setup of the code for the lock is fiddly the first time but once you are used to it it's easy. When you get the item and hold it in your hand and feel the weight of it, you know you bought a sturdy well made key box. It's more money than the ones that use a cog combination but it's a security item and well worth the extra cost.

Woth the price.
I looked at the information for this keysafe early in my search aand dismissed it because of price. I wandered around this site and a couple of others and ended up buying this one anyway - quite simply nothing else measured up to my requirements. I am happy with my keysafe and consider it well worth the asking price. Instructions were very clear and came with a template for the wall mount. It is sturdy to the point of being pry-proof and heavy enough that you could break a toe if you dropped it. The locking mechanism is good quality and operates from a comfortable 180 degree turn. Even kids under 10 could easily use this once combination is set. It fits to even a slightly uneven brick wall easily and securely and has a well designed rain cover over the button section. The buttons have a solid enough feel which gives you confidence that they will last. I am very happy with my purchase, but there are a couple of points to note... # The combination will open the locking mechanism even if the numbers are entered out of sequence. # The rain cover was extremely tight and grated my skin a few times against the wall as I tried to pull at it. # The supplied screws are torx ( recess looks a little like and asterix ) Not everyone will have the tool to use these. # A tool is required to change the combinition - it is like a piece of cardboard - one is supplied. I nearly lost mine on the first day even though there is a recess to hold it within the keysafe. Lose this and forget your combination and you will really be in trouble. Take care.

Looks, feels and weighs like a quality item
Looks and feels very sturdy from the outside, and comes with a weather cover. It must weight well over a kilogram and I take this to be an indicator of quality. There is a hook for a key inside the box. The mechanism for setting /changing the code is plastic with lightly sprung tabs that are rotated with a supplied plastic tool. The mechanism seems fine to me and I had no problems setting codes. There should be no problem long term unless you're ham fisted. The key safe is attached to the wall with four masonry screws that go into 5 mm diameter holes. The screws require a T30 (Torx) bit that is not supplied. T30 heads are very common for masonry screw fittings. The screws went in firmly into Victorian engineering bricks with only hand power. Standard techniques should be adhered to for fixing the screws, in that the holes should be off sufficient depth and blown out with some compressed air from a can. A correction now. The 12 keys labelled 0 through 9 and A and B provide a maximum of 924 alternative codes if you set 6 numbers for your code. This is not 4000 as stated in the description. The order of the keys pressed does not matter for this key safe. It is simple binomial maths for a non repeating combination (any six from 12). 12!/(6!*(12-6)!) = 924. My version as of this review date has a friction fit on the black handle used to open the safe. This negates the common means of opening these safes as shown on several U Tube videos. I've seen several of these videos and tried that technique and can confirm that it no longer works. I'm not a professional bad guy, but have engineering experience and a good deal of theoretical knowledge and I am confident of the lock's security. The local council staff who have used it are perfectly comfortable with the design and operation of the key safe.

Best Keysafe Around
I bought this KeySafe because it is the only one which I am aware which is recommended by the Police. You can get alternatives at a fraction of the price but to my mind the premium is well worth paying for this endorsement. It a robust beast and would not, I imagine, be at all easy to break into. A key is provided to change the combination - as another reviewer said, this is quite flimsy but I had no problem in using it and did not have to resort to a screwdriver. One interesting aspect is that you can put the numbers in the combination in in any order and it still works. This initially concerned me. However, when I worked out that there are 12 possible numbers to use rather the usual nine or ten, the chances of randomly getting your selection are astronomical. It is certainly not a keysafe where you are going to get the combination by trying a number and jiggling it around to see if it is a bit loose as you can with cheaper variations. It is far too well built for that. Installation is simple via 4 large screws which attach the back to the wall. Overall I am very pleased with this item and glad that I paid the extra to get the best keysafe around.

Secure, heavy duty key safe
Very solid construction and easy to fit. Being mechanical the key combination is rather like the old combination barrel bike locks in that any arrangement of the chosen letters and numbers works but that hardly matters as it would take a burglar far too long to go through each combination - roughly 500 - and opening it without the combination would be a major task, even if it had somehow been chiselled out of the wall, which would be a difficult enough task in itself if it had been fitted correctly. It is a heavy duty piece of kit in both weight and strength and much more secure than keys under mats, plant pots, ornaments and rocks, real and otherwise, where any burglar worth his salt knows to look. Placed out of the way it provides a good back up those annoying times when you have forgotten your keys or in emergencies. It is also useful as a key store for, for example, regular health visitors, home helps and so on. My mother-in-law had one which was used by district nurses and home helps when she was recovering from a broken hip.
