Best Barbell Ever
My previous barbell was starting to curve as it couldn’t take the weight it was holding anymore. It was also smaller than I liked (5ft) so I needed to upgrade. I am not disappointed with this barbell at all, it’s perfect. It is so thick and solid, it feels as though it could take 200 kilos with no problems. The length is also perfect for me and I especially like the length of the weight baring parts as they’re long enough to add many weight plates. Couldn’t be happier.

A sturdy, reliable and versatile bar.
I bought this as opposed to an Olympian bar because of the price and also the cost of Olympian weights and benches etc. It is a great bar, almost as wide as an Olympian bar, good grip and a neat 10 kilo weight to factor into your lift totals. I have easily deadlifted 140 kg with it, not even a murmur from the bar. I am confident it could handle at least 200 kg, maybe go as high as 220 kg before it started to have problems. Great addition to your home gym.

Great value
It's a 10kg bar with standard 1" diameter ends meaning you can use standard 1" weights (or Olympic weights with an adapter). It's of fair quality but appears to be chromium plated (unless I'm mistaken), so that may chip with use, but at least it'll delay rusting. I guess the more expensive Olympic bars will be stainless steel. The length is good and it has been textured for grip in three places: the two areas where you hold it when lifting and also in the centre which is handy for when you're moving the empty bar about. Not used it with much weight yet so not sure how strong it is or how much it will flex but for the 20 GBP I paid I'm very happy.

perfect
ok so it been a week since i got this, first all, i use this for squats, excellent, feels confortable in hands and on neck. second time to use it, was doing bench presses, just as good, feel good, nice size bar to grip and the grip pattern on the bar is great,, third time was for dead lifts, excellent again, for some reason the weight felt not as heavy, using this bar, strange but true. the bar is heavy at 10kg, and the spin locks are ok, but does the job very well. so looking forward to using it more untill i out grow it with weight. so would recommend this bar to anyone who wants to have a longer bar, or who want to upgrade to a bar that can hold more weight up to 150kg.

Good upgrade from standard bars
The standard 5' bar was too narrow for me to safely use with squat stands so I went searching for a new one suitable for my standard York weights. Amazon had the best prices at the time and the choice was between a 6' bar and this 6'6" spin lock beefy bar. I decided on the larger bar, as the distance between the inner collars was greatest. I chose my squat stands, Bodymax CF310, as they had adjustable height and adjustable spotter catchers and this meant that with a longer bar I would be able to use the set-up to self-spot for bench, incline and shoulder press when used with my basic York bench. The bar arrived very quickly even though I chose super saver, and it was very well packaged. At the time the Royal Mail was still having problems, but Amazon had used a different service. The distance between the collars is 4' and there is 15" for weights either side. (5' bar: 3'1" between collars and 11" either side.) I think the beefy refers to it being a slightly wider grip bar which is good, but I've found the highs of the threaded ends are actually a little lower than the standard bar by a mm or two. I think this is a manufacturing issue (bad batch perhaps) or it's part of the accepted tolerance as the spin lock collars work fine. For me it's slightly annoying as I use 1" spring clips to secure the weights when doing non maximal lifts. Normally these grip the thread very well, but this bar having a slightly narrower thread, I have to angle the spring clip so it rides across one more turn before it gets a good grip. Only takes 3 seconds but it shouldn't be that way. If you choose the non-threaded bar it may not have this petty problem but it wouldn't have spin locks either. The chrome plating isn't the best I've seen on York products but the knurling is well formed and wide allowing for many grip positions. Overall weight is about 10kg. The bar can safely handle 120kg. A very good bar, but it just misses the top rating. Consider it, or the non-threaded version, if you need an upgrade from the 5' bar.

Nice bar, nicer price.
I'm going to use it as an aid to stretching so no heavy lifting reviews. Will work out nicely. Sorry for all the puns but they are funnier than the free amazon jokes you get sent after completing 6 reviews.
