8 Years and always made my own, and I'm happy with the quality and price of this complete kit
I was a little skeptical of ordering a kit, always cut and made my own, but this appeared to have good reviews and was affordable. I bought 2. The wood is clean cut, the boxes fit tight and have a good layer of wax inside and out. The frames are not the normal cheap wood I've bought from other places. The foundation has more wax than other prewaxed I've purchased over the years. The only thing I had problems with is the single top screw splitting the edge, even if only just below the surface. I ended up using tightbond 3 and gluing the crack and using a brad nail to strengthen. The frames assembled great, but I always use glue and a single brad, never had any frame separate in 8 years - I did the same with these. Assembly was easy and everything is tight. The boxes matched the size I've been cutting for years, so my frame spacers (3d printed) fit inside perfectly and everything appears to be good. I'm considering buying 20 more, or the kit with 2 deep and a med super. I like 8 frame hardware because it's not as back-breaking heavy when you're working dozens of hives or lifting supers off for extraction. The price point and quality is good, best I've seen in a kit before. I was not paid/compensated for this review.

Bees give it 5 stars
Well made. Assembly was fun, like a puzzle, but fun. I bought bees locally and they took up residence and in 5 months have quadrupled the size of their hive. The hive has survived an f0 tornado, a flood that flooded half way up the box and a major hail storm and sustained no damage from any of it.

Genuinely nice hive
Easy to assemble nice quality all around a genuinely nice hive. Looks good just take your time with it when building and you shouldn’t have any trouble.

by far the best beehive I have ever seen.
The wood is flawless and the joints of the box are dovetailed, which makes the box really sturdy. The wax coating is really thick and well done. It looks like a piece of furniture. The combs are precision made and are really fun to put together. I ordered the double dipped combs and am very satisfied with them. You cant find a nicer hive for twice the money

Best deal, no name product, excellent workmanship.
Best deal, no name product, excellent workmanship. Unfortunately, I haven't found the drive to finish putting it all together and get it all mounted 10' up in the tree, yet. Almost 80 years old and failing health.

Worth the money
I was a bit cautious when purchasing this starter kit due to the previous reviews. Everything came as ordered, nothing was left out. Delivery was on the day of the delivery date. Everything assembled ok but a couple of pieces were really tight when assembling the boxes. After setting up and placing frames in the boxes, I set the frames centered with equal gap on each side for ventilation for the bees. Overall, I would recommend this product. I purchased this in April 2024 and two weeks later, I was placing bees inside.

pre drilled, screws and nails come with it. dovetails are snug
This hive comes packed well in a box. Each box of the hive has 4 boards, sideboards are dovetailed at each end, the end boards have pins(cut to slide into the dovetail) at each end. I was able to push them together without using a hammer but they were snug. Each dovetail has a countersunk screw hole in it and the top of the end board has a countersunk screw hole in each end of it. I had one extra screw (a good mechanic always finishes with extra parts :) ) Only tighten these end boards snug (do not over tighten) because they are close to the edge and will split the board if you tighten too much, then you will have to glue and staple the board back together. The base, the inner cover, the telescoping lid all look great. There is the typical oval hole in the center of the inner cover but there is not a slot in the outer edge of the inner cover to allow ventilation into the area between the hive body and the lower part of the telescoping cover. That can be added with a saw in short order. I checked, the frames fit together snug but I will wait to put them together until I have my air compressor back from the boys and I will glue and shoot staples in them rather than using the nails provided. The hive bodies sit on the base well and also fit well on each other.
