"The White Princess" is a tale of power, family, love, and betrayal, charting one of the most tumultuous times in British history uniquely from the point of view of the women. Review: LAVISH COSTUMES AND SETTING AND MAGNIFICENT ACTORS - I loved THE WHITE QUEEN and was eager to see THE WHITE PRINCESS. Although fictionalized and romanticized, THE WHITE PRINCESS does cover a dark period in English history where warring factors vied for the throne of England. THE WHITE PRINCESS is mesmerizingly beautiful in its settings and costumes. The rich colors of the costumes will delight any viewer. In this series, Princess Elizabeth of York is obliged to marry a man she hates - the King Henry VII. The Princess' mother Dowager Queen Elizabeth Woodville continues to plot against Henry and to bring her son to the throne. Here is a totally fascinating part of English history. After King Edward IV died in battle, his brother Richard took the throne and the rightful heirs. Edward and Richard were sent to the Tower of London. Their fate has never been conclusively determined, though most believed they were murdered. By marrying Elizabeth, Henry VII strengthened his claim to the throne. The plot of THE WHITE PRINCESS centers around Elizabeth's growing fondness for Henry. As she bears two make heirs, her connection to the Tudor throne is now solid. In this version of the story, Richard was replaced by a peasant in the Tower and escaped. Elizabeth's world collapses when Richard returns to claim his throne. Is he an imposter or is he her brother. This is an enticing dilemma for the queen and the meat of our story. I've read a lot on the TUDOR period in England. It was short-lived and ended with Henry VII's three grandchildren eventually each taking the throne. This was a era of intrigue, conniving, back stabbing and threats from abroad. Alliances were formed and broken. THE WHITE PRINCESS is less about love and romance as it is about political intrigue. It's was a fascinating time. The actors are all exceptional and two stand outs in my mind are gorgeous Jodie Comer as Princess Elizabeth and lovely Rebecca Benson as Margaret Plantagenet. There is something particularly magical about Benson's portrayal of Margaret whose brother Teddy, another heir to the throne, is also imprisoned in the Tower of London. We can see the fear and angst in her eyes. Here is a show that is full of truly marvelous actors. The British do historical dramas better than anyone else. THE WHITE PRINCESS is a delight to the senses and anyone with a modest interest in history will be fascinated by the beauty of THE WHITE PRINCESS Review: The White Princess is an asset to any DVD collection. - If you liked The White Queen series, you HAVE to buy The White Princess. This fast-paced historical drama had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. I found that the intentional inaccuracies only spiced up the story. There are also some graphic battle scenes and sexual content inappropriate for young children. I highly recommend this two-disc DVD set for a 7.5 hours of total entertainment.

Kept my interest
I binge watched the whole thing in a day. Great character development. Great actors. Worth a watch if you like period pieces and even if you usually aren't a fan. It's a really good drama.

It’s not history but still a great series!
I didn’t really miss the actors from TWQ probably because it’s been awhile since I watched that series. I didn’t care for the Boy, tooo bold and mouthy by far; Maggie Pole irritated me a bit and I had a hard time getting past Dowager Elizabeth’s puffy top lip! I liked Richard and Elizabeth. My lady the kings mother was ok but I kept seeing Game of Thrones Lady Stark!! I did like her character in TWQ. BUT I loved the series. The books are not really historical either and one can only fit so much in a movie. I have all the books and series so I just fill in the blanks. Well worth the cost but I did wait until price went down a bit.

A Different Version of History
The production quality and video presentation are top notch. It takes a while to get going but when it does it is quite engaging. The acting is fantastic. If you watched 'The White Queen' and liked it there are some differences. First off with the exception of one actress this movie was completely recast. Also there is not any where near as much nudity. I didn't mind either way but Rebecca Ferguson as Elizabeth Woodville in 'The White Queen' was incredible . Truly an unforgettable performance ! So 'The White Queen' gets 5 stars and 'The White Princess' 4 stars but both are well worth purchasing.

Wonderful show!
Me and my girls watched this when is was premiered on Starz. We loved every minute of it. Some of the history is correct but not all. The acting and actors is wonderful. The sets and costumes are amazing. Wish it would have been longer series. But I was so excited to see it on DVD. Since I no longer have Starz. Enjoyed it so much.

Came quickly, worked with no skips and the story itself is great! I really recommend this series if you’re at all into the Tudors or the Wars of the Roses. Fascinating story, and the main actress is one that I’ve kept an eye on as she’s played quite a few characters really well. She’s really really good in this! I highly recommend. Especially if you enjoyed The White Queen (book or movie) or The Red Queen (only the book is available, I think).
