Does the job, quality product.
When looking to buy and item I take a look at the negative (1 Star) reviews to get a feeling of what to expect. For this product there were a few with issue claiming bad machining, cheap plastic. Either the product has changed or they bought something else as I received a nicely fabricated stainless steel probe with well machined hose attachment, a nice container for the fertilizer, and a brass on/off valve. I wasn’t thrilled with the teflon tape so I used some pipe dope (with teflon) to join the two pipe pieces. With the water off I pushed the probe down a few inches then turned the water on and jetted the probe down to the fertilizer container, turned the dial so that the fertilizer would add, let it run for a bit, shut off the water and moved to the other side of the tree I’m working on, rinse and repeat. Bottom line it works as advertised, gets water and fertilizer past the yard and down to the tree roots. Would buy again.

Very heavy duty and I like that you can attach a fertilizer feed.
Easy to get into the ground

Root Feeder
Appears to be well made

Outstanding root feeder !
This feeder is made of stainless steel for the shaft and top grade materials for the other items. It is easy to use and can save plants and shrubs during extreme heat like we have here in Texas. The only suggestion that I have would be to make the fertilizer attachment out of something other than plastic, something stronger to compliment the rest of the feeder. I would consider it to be the weak link in the chain. That said, overall this is an excellent root feeder that should last for many years. I highly recommend it! No clogging and an outstanding value for the money. It has performed beautifully.

Sturdy Soil Water Injection, Yes. Chemical Feeder, NO!
I will keep the device, But also add in-line Venturi type Feed device, which will provide needed ability to feed large quantities of other solutions using plastic tubing and open container. Yes it is overpriced for only performing soil water irrigation; steel Tee tube and handle are very solid and functional. Also not any cheaper found elsewhere. The Feeder portion does not function. I have turned the control knob in all directions and blown air through Feeder to determine air flow is possible. But when water flowing through feeder control top and white colored solution in plastic Feeder bottle, the white solution never changed color nor density. It was not being injected into the hose nor soil. By reading prior owners comments I feared the feeder portion was not based on Venturi principle. But only hoped it would somehow function. Why would a reputable company knowingly sell poorly functioning products? PS - I had no problem with leaking components since I used silicone based grease on all washers and threads. Amazon should add a fourth Criterion: Functionality. Two Stars for Ease of Use because Chemical Feeder ineffective.

Sharp like a needle
Easy to use and no leaks. The point is very sharp! Hit a few rocks and rammed through them. Very ridgit, I can throw my whole body weight (230lbs) on it. The fertilizer unit worked flawlessly, pumped fish emulsion into ground no problem. One major benefit I find over watering stake is air can get into new patch of soik after each watering. If your leak at the shutoff or fertilizer unit, go to a hardware store and grab a 3/4 washer. Preferably a washer with more material than the pre-installed one. The picture shows washer quality difference. If your leak at the middle probe, use PTFE paste along with the PTFE tape. Wrap it a few times then apply the paste over the tape like in pic.

Great product
These root feeders are durable and well built. A great improvement over the Ross brand which I had bought several years before. You can depend on these things to last for years.

Works fine but low quality
First examination I saw metal shavings down the lower half of the tube suck in there from machining the threads, pictured, I pulled them out with a skewer. Poor quality control. Next I assembled it and noticed you can't screw on the container while it's attached to the cap, they could have placed the fitting lower on the tube. Next if you screw on the container cap it stops tight facing up, I didn't want to over tighten it and break it. So, I got two premium gaskets I bought earlier, removed the supplied one and stuck my two in the opening. Screwed the cap on and had to tighten it a little to get to face down, that worked fine with no leaks. Another poor quality design. Finally, if your ground isn't soft I wouldn't try and force this thing in, it will probably fold over. Another person suggested using a spade bit to make a hole. I have a 5/8" extra long one I used to bore a hole down and pushed the feeder into the ground. It was still a tight fit but it worked. I found it you turn on the water while you try to push it into the ground it will slide down easier. I would still recommend it if you are willing to do a couple things to make it work better for you.
