Fully coated Lens Makes these Binoculars Excellent
I have been waiting a while to buy smaller 10x30 binoculars; I have most of the other sizes. There are so many small binoculars out there and most are not worth the money, even at 20 dollars. However Nikon came out with 10x30 binoculars with fully coated lenses and I imediately bought them. Lens are everything and fully coated lens and prisms are the only ones worth buying. The most important part of the Binoculars are coatings and the type lenses and prisms used. When lense are coated they are suddenly good in dim light, you can see things more sharply and clearly as if you were looking through an open window. Nikon PROSTAFF P7 10x30 have all the attributes of very good binoculars. The focus dial is smooth and easy to move. The binoculars are the right size not too small or big and they weight is not noticeable around your neck. They are great in dim light. Sunset brings brighter views in everything you are looking at. Looking at the moon is spectacular. I just competeda 2 mile hike through the woods. The binoculars were hardly noticed. Every view was perfect in shade or sunlight. I use most 10x30 because birds get bigger and small details are at there best. Focusing with these binoculars is smooth an easy. If you rather have 8x30 binoculars you don't need to focus at all, because everything is in focus. Buying quality binoculars that are sharp and clear will make using them fun. The price for these binoculars are at a very good. They are waterproof and safe to take outdoors no matter what the conditions.

Good quality Nikon binoculars
Great little set of binoculars, very clear and light. Pretty small if you have big hands. Kinda pricey, but worth it. Cheap neckstrap and lenscaps. You'll need to upgrade those.

Great, clear image with long eye relief (8x42 version)
These are excellent, especially if you wear glasses. I did a lot of research between these and the Vortex, and am happy I went in this direction because of the long eye relief. Much easier to see through than my Celestron Nature DX (no black circle FOV). If you are waffling on your next purchase and you're in the ~$200 price range, these are the ones you want. Bright, clear, and great for people with glasses.

Excellent choice for Boaters/Campers/Hikers!
For the money, the P7 10x30 is (overall) and excellent value. I have a couple of design reservations but they're not necessarily show-stopper issues. Optics are very good. Color is also quite good. Could use a bit more light transmission in low-light conditions. I would not recommend these for any low-light usage. Ideally, I would use these in sunny conditions only. The lower transmission actually helps reduce the glare in sunny conditions. Optics do have some distance limitations. These are best under 10 miles. Optical clarity reduces after about 5 miles but it's very subtle. After 10 miles, it's more noticeable. Construction quality is good. The rubber armor isn't as good as the new Monarch M7 armor. The softer armor on the P7 allows for more fingerprints and oils to be picked up. It's not as bad as the older Nikon armor though which was very soft and wore down a bit quicker. My biggest gripe: the eyecups do not securely "lock" at their maximum distance. If you wear eyeglasses then this won't affect you. The slightest pressure will push in the eyecups. Fortunately, it doesn't affect the overall viewing. It's just annoying. I don't have this issue with my Monarch M7, Leica or Zeiss binoculars. Minor gripe: the overall size is a bit large for a 10x30. They're not heavy but not exactly lightweight. I think they could have been more compact. Again, these are very good for the price. If you're on a budget then I can highly recommend these. These would be very good for boating or camping/hiking. However, if you need something for hunting or low-light conditions, then I'd suggest moving up to a Monarch M7 10x42 model. I personally haven't tried the Nikon Monarch M7 10x30 but since it's nearly the same price, then I'd just buy the 10x42 model. You'll get more light gathering and an excellent binocular.

All around a great binocular!
Labored back and forth between the Nikon M7 10 x30mm and the Nikon P7 10x30mm. . . The M7's were over $436.00 vs The P7's at $156,95 . . . After alot of reserach i went with the P7's and I am glad I did! Thery are very clear and sharp, lightweight and easy to use at a great price! I use them for varmint hunting and they work perfecty for Prairie Dogs and Coyoties! The M7's are a fantastic binocular at almost $300.00 more in price! The P7's are hard to beat for the price. I made the right decision!!

Glasses wearer Nikon Prostaff P7 10 x 30
First of all, I wear glasses all the time. I have seen a few reviews that have said that these are no good for people who wear glasses. That is not true. These focus perfectly and adjust so that I see everything clearly. If you wear your glasses at the end of your nose, then that may be a problem. Also, there is a reviewer here on Amazon that recommends the Opticron 48 - 50 mm objective lens covers. Model # 31023. It looks like their review is for a different model, but same lens size and Amazon has grouped them all together. Those do NOT fit. They are too big. I purchased those and had to return them. The 47 - 48mm outer diameter ones fit perfectly. Model # 31047. These are excellent quality binoculars; too bad they could not supply better objective lens covers. The case is pretty flimsy for these also...

Good Choice for Bird Watching
I Read several reviews online saying these P7 Prostaff binoculars were a top entry level pair for bird watching. I don't know a lot about binoculars but these fit my eyes well. I am able to get a very sharp focus on almost any object from 20 ft to 200 ft away. It has eye cup and lens cover caps and a very nice soft case. I'm an amateur bird watcher but I'm very impressed with this binocular. It seems very high quality at a reasonable cost.
