Sahara Rear Drag

I love the Shimano Sahara Reels! These are the best bang for the buck. I own EIGHT of the Sahara's from the tiny 500 to the 3000, with the various drag options. They perform flawlessly!!! Smooth as silk, very impressive! I own other popular reels in the same price range, some 50% more..............they don't compare. I pick up my rods with Sahara's to take fishing............the others stay home. The SURPRISE: This latest purchase of the 1000 Rear Drag included a spare rear drag spool!!! What a SURPRISE!!! These are $25 spools when purchased. I am THRILLED!!! Thank you Shimano!!!

This is the best spinning reel I have ever owned so good I bought two ! And the price was good too ! I totally recommend this item .

While not as smooth as my old Symetre reel, this reel is pretty close. Plus I love the rear drag feature on this reel!

I just bought my brother in law this reel in the 1000 size, for this upcoming Christmas. I was so impressed that I bought myself one also. :) This reel is very smooth, it feels like a reel that would be more expensive, aside from the weight, it's not terrible but it is a little chunky. The rear drag is a great idea, and the "fightin drag" lever is really quick and easy to use. You'll want to flip the bailer down, before reeling, after casting. It will crank down but it's not as smooth, as there again a 200.00+ reel. I have a few of those reels and that's what I'm used to. That is exactly why I am so impressed with this reel !! Aside from the two things I listed this is a solid little reel!! I would definitely recommend, and already have a few times, this reel especially if you looking for a good value!!

I live on a lake, retired, and fish at least 4 days a week. Do that for 5 years and you can actually wear poles & reels out! So I have several reels, and this reel is a favorite. High quality, never a problem, bought a second. Ps: I prefer this reel to my $700 Stela.

I have fished with the old model with the quick fire cast leaver which was awesome but the old model quick cast spool did not lock when cast-retrieving for Small Mouth, Walleye and Pike.… so you hook set was delayed.. This new model WITHOUT the quick fire cast lever Locks the spool immediately when you stop retreveing, giving you an IMMEDIATE hook set!! The back drag quick adjustment has given me the opportunities to catch the BIG fish. You don't need luck catching the BIG fish with the on the fly quick adjustments of the back drag system!!! I have been using the back drag system for 20 or 25 plus years!! These reels are “Sunset Country”, Ontario, Canada Providence APPROVED(🎤drop)

Very easy to use. Bail is smooth and easy to reset.

When I saw that shimano still made a rear drag and fighting drag reel, I had to have one. Couldn't decide between the 1000 and 2500 sizes so I bought both. Works really well. Smooth reeling and drag. The biggest problem I have is that the line loops around the bail pickup roller housing. Wind knots have been minimal. I like the reel and will continue to use them.

Moulinet de bonne qualité, belle finition, réglable rapide du frein.

tout était parfait d'autant plus qu'il semblerait que shimano ne fabrique plus de moulinet rear drag .je me suis laissé dire ca par un vendeur de chasse et peche d'une banniere tres connue.il semblerait que plusieurs modeles ne sont plus disponible dans les séries 1000, 2000,2500. et 4000

Model RD2500 I have been using this reel for sea shore lure fishing after my previous reel suffered from ‘wind knots’. I have not had this problem with this reel and has worked well with braided line. The spool offers low casting resistance and I can achieve similar casting distances as with beach casting gear. The reel has a smooth action and works well with light gear.
