One of our top 10 Christmas movies in our home! We watch it every year and love everything about it. I will mention that it took FOREVER to find it. There is now a horror movie Jack Frost. Make sure you rent the right one!

Watched it with my kids since I remember it being a great movie when j was a kid. Still a tear jerker.

This was a silly movie & not in a good way...

At the time of this film's theaterical release, it was deemed by audiences and critics as a flop. Well forever to the shame of those who choose to take such an attitude. I see nothing bad whatsoever about this film. Though the scene where Jack gets killed is quick and can be frightening to children; and of course there is school bullying involved; I don't see anything whatsoever that makes this film a flop. Michael Keaton may get top billing, but in my heart, Joseph Cross as Charlie is the centerfold. The true star. He just holds the entire story together from start to finish. He should have won an Academy Award. I guarantee this is a film kids worldwide can watch and even relate to in some capacities. Check it out. And to those critics and audiences from 1998 who chose to give thumbs down to JACK FROST, I suggest you do yourselves a favor and check the film out again and rethink your negativity. A story with such loving childhood innocence, relatable pain and the power of healing deserves far better.

Jack Frost is a delightful, touching, and magical Christmas movie for the family. It begins with a father named Jack Frost (played by the wonderful Michael Keaton). Though he has very good intentions and so much love for his family (his wife Gabby played by the lovely Kelly Preston and talented newcomer Joseph Cross plays son Charlie), the demands on his time at the onset of his musical career cause him to miss out on a lot of time with them as well as important events in his son's life. The movie doesn't make Jack out to be a bad father/husband. It's apparent in his interactions/conversations with his wife and son that he's not unaware of what he's missing, he regrets it, and he's really trying to make it better (with realistic commitments set upon him by his job-relatable to all of us). The family dynamic here is truly special as they openly discuss their issues/feelings (without it being cheesy, since the dialogue is so witty and concise). Ever supportive, the family tries to work out plans so that Jack can live out his dreams (very important too) without missing out on his family life at the same time. These early scenes produce some of the greatest laughs of the movie, in my opinion. The dialogue is clever and honest. Also, despite the fact that we know this is going to turn into a snowman movie shortly, some of these moments within the family rank up for me among the most genuine and touching that I've ever seen in a family film. So, Jack must miss out on Christmas morning with his family so he can travel with his band to a gig in order to get signed to a record deal. Halfway there, Jack decides he's made the wrong decision and heads home to surprise his wife and son. Tragically, he meets an untimely end on the way there. Now we cut to one year later and Charlie is a changed little boy. Still a sweet young man, he's understandably filled with deep sadness and disappointment over the loss. When it hits him the hardest, he goes out to build a snowman like he did with his father the year before and then blows on a "magic harmonica" that Jack had pretended he would always be able to hear. Surprisingly enough, the magic works and Jack has a chance to spend some real quality time with his son and help him through this terrible turn of events. The result is a hilarious, snow-filled, Christmas movie with a lighthearted, but sob-worthy ending. Who would have thought? :) Very impressive!

Ce film est un incontournable, pour les fans de Noël. Loin d'être un chef d'oeuvre cinématographique, il ne démérite pourtant pas ! Michael Keaton n'y fait qu'une apparition très brève, le reste étant assuré par des images de synthèse pour les scènes "d'action" les plus "intenses". Néanmoins, l'histoire est empreinte de poésie et de douceur. Il est impossible de rester indifférent à la peine de cet enfant privé de son père. On passe du rire aux larmes, tout en douceur, et il a tôt fait de rejoindre la collection annuelle des contes de Noël, qu'on regardera avec plaisir en famille.

冬が近づくと観たくなる映画があります。それは、「ジャック・フロスト～パパは雪だるま」です。ストーリーを紹介しましょう。 ロックバンドのボーカル、ジャック・フロスト。ある日彼は事故に遭い、愛する妻ギャビーと息子チャーリーを残して逝ってしまった・・・。しかし一年後、奇跡が起きる！彼はチャーリーの作った雪だるまとなって復活したのだ。チャーリーに語りかけ、一緒にホッケーやスノボーをし、これまでにない楽しい時間を過ごすジャック。しかし体は、暖かくなるととけてしまう雪だるま。最後にチャーリーとの本当の別れが待っていた・・・。 という何ともユニークな作品なのですが、観終わると感動の涙があふれ、何だか優しい気持ちになれるのです。父親を亡くし、心沈んでいたチャーリーが雪だるまになって復活した父ジャックに励まされ、たくましく成長する姿に感動するのです。ぜひ、家族そろって観てほしい映画です。 この作品の登場人物は誰も、誠実なアメリカ人として描かれており、彼らの人間性に深く共感を覚えます。アメリカのホームドラマには付きものの愛犬もいて、お約束と言わんばかりの活躍をします。そして何と言っても必見は、雪だるまの豊かな表情や動きです。とってもユニークで、楽しい場面の連続です。きっと、子どもたちも笑って泣いて、大切なことを学んでくれると思います。 何かで落ち込んだ時など、きっと勇気を与えてくれるでしょう。冬に観たい心あたたまるボクのお気に入りの映画です。 （追記） この作品はＤＶＤでも発売されています。妻ギャビーの吹き替えを島本須美さんがやっていますが、この声がケリー・プレストンにすごくマッチしていて個人的に大好きです(*^_^*)。
