Like-for-like spare EV charging cable for untethered charging situations
I’ve not had the chance to try this cable out properly yet as our plug-in car that we ordered back in October 2021 has been ‘delayed’ in production due to various global events. When it does arrive this cable should be a useful accessory to take with us in the car for those rare occasions where you might find yourself wanting to top-up and have a type-2 female charge point rather than the more usual cable already tethered-up to the wall-box. I have had a home wall-box installed already and opted for a tethered variety so this cable is not for me to use when at home (unless we ever change-out the wall-box for an un-tethered variety in the future). We have a couple of friends who have home chargers and I’m sure at least one of them has an untethered box so if we visit them we can use our own cable. I opted for the 7.2kW 32A Single phase cable as this is the middle ground option and is the most that a domestic wall-box charger is likely to have, and is also the most common in-car charger AC charging speed, as you don’t find many that have the more potent 11kW or 22kW onboard charging capability. The quality of the cable seems perfectly decent and the storage bag is well made and fit-for-purpose without being excessive. For a price of c. £125 (at time of review) for the 7.2kW version that feels about where I would have expected.

Does what it says
Similar price to other cables. Comes with a handy bag to stow it in your car and is compatible with the charge points at supermarkets (UK) and my Ford plug in hybrid.

Not suitable for outside use - rain can enter the charging cable
The car-end of the cable has filled with water due to recent rain, this cable is not suitable for British weather. See video - it is audibly filled with water which is slowly draining out. The advert says it is "waterproof" which is demonstrably false. I see now it is IP54 rated, which is not waterproof and is not suitable for heavy rain.
