Vision Duomatic pocket umbrella 28 cm

I intentionally chose the drab green color, which they call "plant", because it is likely to be unique enough to prevent my umbrella from being confused with anyone else's, unlike the root/black color where shades of color don't matter or the water/blue color which seemed more common. I took 7 pictures of the Knirps Vision Duomatic Automatic Rain Umbrella so you can look at some photos of it. I have had automatically extending/opening umbrellas before but never one quite like this. The spring-loaded opening and closing mechanism of the Knirps umbrella is interesting. After playing with it for a minute I understood why it was called a 'Duomatic Automatic Rain Umbrella'. From the closed position a single press of the button on the handle will extend, open and lock the umbrella (it isn't exactly locked per-se but it will be held open by spring force). From the open position a single press of the button on the handle will unlock the umbrella and collapse it but will not automatically retract the handle, that requires manually pulling it down, which also resets the spring for the next opening. The design did have the feel of German engineering. It is compact and fairly light, being under 12oz (11.7oz without the cover and 11.9oz with the cover). The sturdiness and durability seem like they are going to suffer a bit for the light weight, but I'll find out more about that over time. Overall it is a nice umbrella with good design but it is just an umbrella. You'll have to decide for yourself how much of a premium price you are willing to pay for German engineering.

Ein praktischer und schicker Schirm.

I like the wind resistance of this umbrella. It’s light and compact. I store it in my purse when not in use. I like the automatic feature. I’m no longer getting wet while struggling to raise or lower it.
