General Finishes Flat Out Flat Topcoat, Quart

This topcoat is easy to apply without streaks or bubbles. It is very durable and leaves a beautiful, smooth flat finish. Worth every penny.

We purchased this to apply as protective sealer over chalk paint on dresser. We wanted to keep the very matte finish that chalk paint has. We originally used and minwax matte finish polyurethane, but it had a fair amount of more sheen than the chalk paint and it also made the color slightly different. When I tried this product on a sample board painted with the chalk paint, the wife and I were really surprised as it keep the matte finish of the chalk paint and did not darken the paint color. It is easy to apply and easy to clean application tools. I can swear to durability yet as I have only just applied it to the dresser. If you are looking for a truly matte finish this is the product for you. It's expensive but seems to be worth it.

This is by far the most beautiful top coat. It leaves a matte finish which is exactly what I wanted. It dries super fast and I only had to do a couple costs. Great coverage and levels out with no imperfections.

I needed a finish that wouldn’t make my banister look glossy and pull the orange tones. This was perfect! Every time I sanded and got my banister how I wanted it once I would put the clear coat on it would pull orange immediately, this didn’t pull the orange near as bad! You can see in the background what my banister started as to the finish I have now. I love it!

Nice flat finish with very natural feel, but leaves natural wood darker than GF High Performance flat. I did a big test run of products and GF is by far the best! 5 stars there! For me, I found the High Performance flat to help achieve my goal of minimal color change to natural wood. HP flat finish has a light sheen, where flat on flat has almost none, but alters the color a bit more. Good luck and hope this helps!
