This collectible book shows you how the movie was conceived and filmed from the beginning to the end. At the time when the movie was released in VHS this book was (and it is still nowadays, especially because new/used copies can't be found on the market any more, but on the internet, as they're out of print) a valuable and essential tool for the Titanic lovers also because DVDs didn't exist and so for many fans the only way to know more about their favourite movie was to buy books or, as I've seen, VHS edition with some special features included(but not so many as you can find in the 2005 Titanic DVD edition!!) The book in question starts with the deep dive into the Atlantic Ocean, and it goes on by following the same order in which the scenes come during the movie. The books explains how the Titanic was rebuilt, how the director and Co. recreated the sinking thanks to the new 90's technology and the help of the stuntmen. In addition to this, the book shows how the costumes and the make-up played a great part during the movie, especially as far as the visual effects are concerned, as it happens for example when at the end of the movie the actors are frozen in the cold water after the ship sinking. There are also lots of photos both from the theatrical version and the behind-the-scenes and lots of period pictures. To my great regret I must say that unfortunately several pictures are of poor quality image, I mean that they are not very clear but often blurred (especially if they are put at full page) and their colour is not as deep as you would have expected, because they have not the same high quality you can find in the splendid and remastered TITANIC DELUXE EDITION (WITH 4 DVDs)!Anyway, we live in a different society where technology has so improved, and maybe we have much greater expectations as far as image and film quality are concerned than before... I hope that for next year a new special edition book and the blue-ray edition of Titanic will be released! I must add another thing, which is very positive! I purchased an used copy, and I must confess, that it was perfect inside as if it had never been read before, the pages are clear and not marked... only the cover is slightly damaged; moreover, in this copy I found a beautiful distillation of articles printed in The Times in 1912 which had been collected in a special edition of The Times in 1998, maybe to celebrate the great success of Cameron's Titanic!

Very disappointing , the book was as new so that was as expected however I understood it was the novel of the story from which the film was made not a book explaining HOW it was filmed

Questo che vedete è un poster book edito sempre dalla HarperPerennial nel 1998, ossia un libro in brossura contenente 12 grandi poster del film da attaccare o inquadrare dove volete! Sono pull-out, ossia sono staccabili. Si chiama poster book anche perché all'esterno sembra un libro, con i poster piegati che fungono quasi da pagine da sfogliare. Proprio come le bollette sono attaccati ad una sorta di striscia di carta "seghettata" che ne permette l'estrazione senza l'uso delle forbici! Vi indico qui di seguito le scene in essi raffigurate in ordine di apparizione nel volume: 1 - La scena del volo. 2 - Jack e Fabrizio che corrono con sacco in spalla verso la nave. 3 - Il molo di Southampton, la nave in attesa di partire e la gente che la saluta. 4 - Jack e Fabrizio sulla prua, mentre il protagonista esclama a gran voce 'sono il Re del mondo!' 5 - Cal e Rose che osservano Jack a cena in prima classe. Il loro sguardo raffigurato in questo poster è quello serio che si vede mentre ascoltano Jack raccontare di sé in risposta a Ruth e tutti sono affascinati dalle sue parole tranne ovviamente Cal e la madre di Rose. 6 - Jack che bacia la mano di Rose in fondo alla Grande Scalinata. 7 - Rose e Jack che osservano il ritratto che lui le ha appena fatto. 8 - Jack e Rose che si baciano sulla prua. 9 - Jack che osserva Rose con il foglio tra le mani mentre la ritrae. 10 - Rose che tenta il suicidio (lo sguardo raffigurato nel poster è impietrito mentre guarda dinnanzi a sé). 11 - Rose distesa sopra i resti di una porta in mezzo all'oceano semi addormentata e Jack ormai morto. 12 - Il Titanic che viaggia con il tramonto come sfondo (è la scena che si vede mentre Rose anziana racconta che a Cherbourg salì una donna di nome Margareth Brown) Non vi resta che acquistare questo prodotto e assicurarvi ovviamente di trovare una copia nuova o comunque usata che contenga tutti i poster dato che sono staccabili e quindi si presume che il fan precedente li abbia tappezzati sulla parete. Ringrazio il venditore da cui l'ho comprato qui su Amazon it che mi ha fornito una copia ancora incelofanata!!!!! Quando acquisto qualcosa di usato o come nuovo in genere mando sempre prima una mail per avere info sulle condizioni dell'articolo. Il venditore è stato pronto e cortese e ha tolto via ogni mio dubbio!

Libro bueno, es sobre la película del Titanic. Me encanta esta historia, este libro edta muy bien para conocer detalles de la película que antes no conocía. Buena compra

It was hard to get this particular book, a bit expensive but the gift was appreciated and loved. I would recommend this book in quality, and sturdy.

100 Jahre ist diese Tragödie jetzt her. Daher wird das allgemeine Interesse am Untergang der Titanic wieder "gefördert". Zumal ja auch James Camerons erfolgreicher Kinofilm von 1997 in neuem Glanz dreidimensional ab 05. April 2012 wieder im Kino laufen wird. Darauf freue ich mich schon seeeehr!! :) Also habe ich mich mal auf die Suche begeben nach diversen Büchern zum Thema Titanic. Unter anderem bin ich dann auch auf das Buch zum Kinofilm gestoßen. Da ich den Film seit dem ersten Mal, als ich ihn gesehen habe, liebe, war dieses Buch überaus interessant für mich! Es ist zwar kein neues Buch - nein, es ist genauso "alt" wie der Kinofilm. Aber es ist ja zur Zeit wieder aktueller denn je, wenn der Neustart dieses Films jetzt kurz bevorsteht. Ich hatte das Glück über den tollen Amazon Marketplace ein wirklich gut erhaltenes Exemplar dieses Buches zu einem seeehr kleinen Preis zu ergattern! Klarer Vorteil, wenn man sich erst so spät so ein Buch anschafft! ;) Ich habe es nur so verschlungen. Es gibt zwar mehr Bilder als Text. Jedoch fehlt es nicht an ausführlichen Erläuterungen und Hintergrundinfos. Es ist wirklich sehr spannend. Ich habe einfach so viele Dinge erfahren, die ich die ganzen Jahre über noch nicht wusste. Ich behaupte jetzt einfach mal im Großen und Ganzen nahezu alles darüber zu wissen, was zur Entstehung des Films beigetragen hat und welche Effekte und Maßnahmen zur Verwirklichung dieses Filmprojekts eingesetzt wurden! Ihr werdet euch über vieles sehr wundern! (positiv) Ich freue mich jetzt umso mehr auf das Erleben dieses gigantischen Filmes im Kino in 3D!! :) Klare Kaufempfehlung an alle, die dieser Film schon immer fasziniert hat und die zum neuen Kinostart noch einmal genau wissen wollen, wie dieser tolle Film umgesetzt wurde! Auch Skeptiker können mit diesem grandiosen Buch eventuell noch bekehrt werden und auch bald Fans sein ;)
