This is the one to choose ... seriously
I was concerned from the product photo that the Logitech Alto Express Notebook Stand wouldn't raise my notebook high enough, so I was tempted to go for one of the adjustable stands. I am very happy I chose the Logitech. The angle could not be more perfect, the manufacturer obviously knew exactly what was ergonomically correct when they designed the stand, the center of my screen is exactly in the middle of my field of view. When in use, the stand basically disappears. Despite a ridiculously high price for a piece of plastic, it does exactly what it should, so to me it was worth the price. The adjustable stands I've seen are fussy and wobbly. In particular, the xbrand has small wheels that could send the notebook flying off the edge of the desk if it is accidentally bumped. Almost every other brand raises the front edge too high. Some, like the xbrand have trap doors you have to open to access front-mounted controls. I think many manufacturers take a simple concept and try to complicate it. That is one thing no one will ever pin on Logitech! This stand is a totally simple design. My home office is probably a bit stylish but I absolutely need functionality ... I work at my computer 12 - 14 hours a day. I hated using my notebook before, now with an HP wireless keyboard and mouse and the Logitech Alto Express Notebook Stand I hardly know I'm not using my desktop PC. I think this notebook stand is the winning entry. PROS: Perfect viewing angle, rock-solid support, looks beautiful CONS: Hey, it's a three-dollar piece of plastic with an insane profit margin, but I'd rather pay more for something that is perfect than something that misses the mark.

Great Looking...functional...overpriced...
Great looking notebook stand. I bought it for [...] shipping. That makes it an excellent value that I could not resist. From a user point of view the stand is great, I use it on a Dell Inspiron 1545, and all ports are accessible with the stand, including the ventilation ports which some people have pointed out in other reviews. I'm a 6'2" tall man. For me the viewing angle is almost perfect. Having a wireless combo mouse and keyboard are a most unless you are only using the stand to view movies. I would not have paid more than $10.00 for 3 onz of molded ABS plastic. Logitech should reconsider the retail price for this.

Terrific product, but only one minor problem
I love this little laptop stand; it elevates my lappy to just the right height to reduce neck strain from slouching to type or look at my screen. The design is simple and elegant, and the rubber lip at the bottom (front) end does a great job of keeping my computer from slipping off and smashing onto the floor below. The only complaint I have is that the rubber lip also keeps my audio jack from plugging into my computer (the audio and mic jacks are in the front, as well as the switch for wireless internets). If I want to listen to music (which is, unfortunately, all the time), I have to put a book under the front end of the stand and perch my computer so the front edge extends just past the rubber lip...pretty precarious, but I haven't figured out a better fix yet.

Nice design but won't hold computer
This is a very nice looking holder, a little overpriced for a piece of plastic but what isn't overpriced these days. The computer sits at a comfortable angle so you are still able to use the keyboard comfortably. My problem with this stand is the design of the front edge. There is just not enought of a lip to hold the laptop without fear of it taking a leap off the desk. If you have to plug something in or adjust the screen to a different angle you had better hold the front edge inplace otherwise your computer is going to go sliding off the stand and if your not prepared for this it could hit the floor. Other that that its a very nice simple design. Just needs a little more edge holding ability across the front. I've used it with 17" Gateway and HP Laptops. Same results.

Simple but Effective
I researched notebook stands for MONTHS before finally purchasing one. I use an external monitor and keyboard with my laptop, so actually typing on the notebook keyboard is not important. I was chiefly concerned with providing a sturdy base for the laptop, something that would raise the monitor up to eye height, and something that would allow the laptop fans to operate normally. This stand achieves all of those goals. It's simple, sturdy, and effective. Only thing to consider is if you plan to use the headphone jacks at the front of your laptop (if you have any there), you won't be able to access them with the laptop in this stand. Also, the stand of course is non adjustable, but I don't see this as a problem at all. The adjustability in the laptop monitor itself takes care of any needed adjustments.

Not for 17 inch notebooks
I purchased this with lots of good reviews about it. This is a good piece, serves the purpose, maintenance free and add beauty to the laptop by taking it to a newer and better level. However, the cons of this stand includes: 1) This stand is only for 14, 15 and max 16 inch screens. Though, a 17 inch screen laptop can fit too (I have 17 inch), but it is riskier as the edges of the laptop are very very outside than the edges of the stand 2) Take the advice, if you own a HP laptop, don't buy this, as you would not be able to use the remote control and the headphones socket.

Requires a Separate Keyboard
I bought this thing for my wife who uses a trackball with her laptop. But I never saw that you also need an external keyboard to use it, which makes it useless for her. I only use a desktop, so maybe it would be obvious to another laptop user. I got it from Tiger for only $5 plus shipping, so at least I didn't lose much. I'm posting my review in hopes of saving another clueless desktop user from buying this thing by mistake.

Excellent stand for a MacBook
I ordered this stand from BuyDirect about a three weeks ago and it is fantastic. I got it knowing that I would be getting a 22" external monitor to use with my MacBook and I didn't want to spend too much, I mean, the Alto Connect looks great, but $60? Yeah, no. The Alto Express is perfect. My MacBook looks great on it, either opened or closed and the height is perfect. I just got my monitor and the two are amazingly almost the same height, with no adjustment required. My boyfriend liked the stand so much, he ordered two for his laptops (one Mac, one Dell) and they look great. for anyone who is concerned about price, BuyDirect (at least right now) has them for like $15 shipped and that's totally, totally worth it. The plastic is smooth and well shaped and the bottom crevice is great for a MacBook. If you have an older MacBook Pro or another laptop with an optical drive in the front, it might be a slight hassle, but for anyone who has a right or left facing optical drive, it's perfect.
