Monster on the Hill (Expanded Edition)

Perfect book for kids. Can't wait to re ad this to my granddaughter. She's going to love it. I certainly did!

I read this to my children when they were 5 and ten years later they still quote statements from this book. E.g., "C'mon, get some tentacle time" is what one very memorable character says when he thinks his friend needs a hug. "And these wings -- flightless!" is what the title character says in one of his self-hating (but hilarious) rants. It cries out to be read aloud by someone with dramatic range and a willingness to do British accents. It's appropriate for children ages 4 (as a read aloud) to 14. I'm 50, and I adore it!

Fun artwork and a lively, silly story are sure to entertain. The only disappointment is the very male focus with females only as the most minor, flat characters.

The book came quickly and in great condition (no rips or tears). However, there is a very strong scent (maybe incense?) that is difficult to get out. It leaves my hands smelling like it after holding it and my daughters nose runs / is irritated while we read it.

I love this graphic novel by Rob Harrell. I first read this from the library, but then I couldn't resist getting it for my bookshelf. "Ray! Ray! Ray!!!"
