Just thinking of the nits I have had to deal with over the last couple of months & my hair stands on end! My daughter has never had nits till now (lucky us) and she is now 11 and somewhere these little creatures came into our lives and showed no signs of wanting to leave. I started with trying the natural route tea tree etc essential oils – the scratching stopped for a while and then started again and I repeated everything I did the first time – still they returned. I gave in and purchased a solution, but again, they came back. I purchased this after reading some solid reviews as well as another nit comb. This item does include a little nit comb but it is small and with long hair, I think it would be a challenge. My daughter has recently had her hair cut quite short, so the comb worked well for us and it worked very effectively to removing the monsters that lurk in her poor head of hair! I was impressed (not overjoyed - more shocked) but also relieved with how much I removed from her hair the first go. Yesterday I did her hair again – after 7 days and I only found a few stranded nits hanging out – I didn’t really read the instructions if I’m honest as to how much to use, I just filled an empty spray bottle and sprayed enough to completely soak her head in this greasy solution (it is EXTREMELY greasy and a serious struggle to wash out) but if it removes the nits its completely worth it if it works. My daughter does have thick hair and I spent a good couple of hours really combing through each strand of hair with care. I have to say I really do believe this stuff works well. Only because this is the only solution that after applying just once I noticed the scratching had completely stopped and this poor kid was scratching till she was red in the face – she really was riddled in them! No scratching at all now, very few nits were left after doing the 2nd application. So, I’m crossing my fingers that this is IT now! Note: It would be really useful if this came in a spray bottle as it really needs to be sprayed on for a more effective application.

My kids always seem to have nits, no sooner I get rid of them they come back again. Roll on the school holidays so we can at least have a few weeks nit free! I've tried all the products on the market and I would not be without my Nitty Gritty comb. But nothing gets rid of head lice better than Full Marks Solution. It's unique as it doesn't poison the lice but suffocates them. Cruel I know, but have you seen those critters and what they can do. I'm particularly sensitive to them and when my darling children pass them to me I get a rash that goes from my neck all the way down my arms. The only problem I have with Full Marks is that it really takes some washing out. It's no good washing two or three times at once, you need to let it dry and wash it a couple of times again. Best to do on the weekend then so the kids don't have to go to school with greasy hair. My girls have long hair and I've found that I can hide the greasiness by tying up their hair in plaits, it doesn't look so bad then. You can buy lotion that you can leave in and it doesn't look so bad, and the hair is glossy and shiny after one wash, that's great, but it just doesn't work. A day later you will find yourself combing out more of those ugly blighters, not newly hatched babies but full grown adults that have survived the treatment. Full Marks doesn't smell bad like of the other lotions. It is a very runny liquid which gets everywhere if not applied carefully, but it also saturates the hair easily. I found this bottle of 200ml did two long haired girls and one short haired boy with enough left over to do one more head. It's pretty good value as I've found stretching a 200ml of other lotions between the 3 heads quite difficult. It's not one of the most expensive either. After applying the lotion you comb out the lice before washing the hair. They come out pretty easily because they are not running around, if they are not already dead they are on their way. I've found that another comb through with the nit comb after washing will get out any of the remaining head lice...my son, with the shorter hair, didn't have any after washing, the girls had a couple but they were dead. In conclusion this a an effective lotion which is good value for money but it's a nightmare to wash out afterwards. Despite the washing out problem, I'm giving it 5 stars because it works!

What a joy to read a set of instructions that are clear, well written and informative. Its rare these days sadly. The stuff works well and is easy to use. But read the instructions; don't just slap it on and rinse it straight off again.
