Mr Ralph Kimball is the Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence reference. If you want to wrap your head around BI, this is it: ETL's, warehouses, marts, procedures, methods, examples... It's all here, over 25 years of experience, and it shows a lot! It might seem pricey at first, but it's worth every penny. After you've read these books, you will feel like you owe Mr Kimball some money for being so generous :-)

Kimball and Ross are very good at explaining the concepts of the data modelling and why de-normalization should be a core principle when re-designing data models for the data warehouse. For people new to modelling or warehousing this is a must read. Also people that wonder why or how their warehouse operates the way the do, should read the book. The first two chapters describes the core concepts, then these are further illustrated and elaborated during the next 15-20 chapters, by extended examples. The book ends with a few chapters on the more technical aspects of warehousing.
