If you run a professional sound system and need to play audio from a laptop, then you'll know that on-board soundcards are usually poor quality and typically have high levels of background noise. In addition, laptops can introduce noise and mains hum into the system through the use of cheap, switched-mode power supplies etc. This unit contains a high quality USB soundcard (for playback only), with ground-lifted, transformer isolated, balanced outputs, which solve both of these issues. You could spend a lot more on a top-end Radial Engineering USB-Pro, or you spend a fraction of that amount on this unit. Its well built, sounds great, and requires no drivers when plugged into a PC. I tried it with Windows 7 64-bit, and Windows 8 64-bit, and it worked straight away. Absolutely brilliant.

So this is a really simple way to get isolated balanced outputs from a computer. I bought this due to excessive noise on the analog outputs from my PC and from a separate asus xonar soundcard. This has eliminated the slight noise I was getting out of those ports. This is a super simple device, so it should be rock solid reliable. I took it apart as soon as I got it to see how it's setup. It's using a TI PCM2705 USB Audio chip, which is pretty simple but very reliable. It then uses a couple transformers to presumably isolate the output (maybe provide inverted signal for balanced output? I'm not a super electrical guy...) I have read some people complaining that the transformers color the sound (attenuate higher frequencies or something?), but I haven't noticed anything like that. I am using this in live sound applications only, so room acoustics usually present much larger "coloring" issues that I have to deal with. The only thing I have noticed is the level output from this is pretty low, so I do have to bump up gain going into the mixer, but it's not really an issue. So to summarize, this thing uses a reliable bus powered usb audio chip, so you don't need any special drivers or power supplies, and it outputs balanced XLR connections that are nicely noise free.

We use this with Propresenter for sound output instead of the headphone jack - no more noise gate required! Works great on Mac.

La utilizo para sacar audio digital de un iPad y funciona sin problemas. No requiere un powered-hub y el iPad es capaz de levantarlo por sí solo. Cumple al 100% su función y el material es muy resistente y durable
